Consistent and accurate marking out
Extremely well engineered product. It was put to use immediately upon delivery and improves the accuracy of marking out significantly. The adjustable feature allows repeat centre marking to consistent depth. In some cases it can replace the need to pencil mark and be used directly upon the material to be processed. I've been very impressed with this seemingly inconsequential tool and it's the first thing I put on the bench when preparing to mark out. Highly recommend.

Powerful punch ...
The punch works perfectly but need a fair bit of pressure to operate. The point has not blunted after 50 or so holes.

Good quality
A nicely made product that feels solid and works well. I've used it quite a few times already and it's worked perfectly. Some reviewers mention that after a while it ceases to work. This hasn't happened to me yet but as the solution presented (to bend the spring slightly) seems very easy to apply, the possibility doesn't concern me unduly. Very pleased with this product, would buy it again.

A hole punch
A hole punch is what this is and all it will ever be. Actually I thought it to be expensive for what it is but still it's a strong little punch.

Replacement for a worn out one
This was bought to replace my forty year old Starrett automatic centre punch. It works with the same crisp action as the original and if you account for inflation, the price is comparable to that which I paid back in the eighties. It’s a top quality centre punch for the money.

Good quality tool
I bought the Starrett automatic center punch as a replacement for a Draper tool that was becomming very temperamental. Right from picking the Starrett tool out of its box, it felt robust and generally a vastly superior to my old Draper automatic center punch. I'm actually using it to center my drill when doing joinery - and punching into wood isnt overly onerous - but it does a good job and feels that it would work well on far harder materials.

Well Impressed!
To be honest, I'd never heard of these before. Basically, it's an Automatic Bradawl/Centre Punch, so rather than hitting it with a hammer to mark a hole, with this, you simply apply downward pressure which results in a mark/hole/indent in the material. It may sound a bit lazy or pointless but I'm finding it MUCH easier to use than the manual bradawl/punch, especially for marking on a vertical face i.e. for marking a hole on a kitchen cabinet side panel. where you would normally hold the manual bradawl in place, reach for the hammer and then notice that the bradawl has moved a mm or two........ Grrrrr! It works just as well when used horizontally or vertically. It's robust, well made, adjustable and easy to store in your toolbox. No issues to date and I'm very impressed. As such, Highly Recommended!
