Works on PC, 184 MB/s Write, 7.27TB
Can Recommend!! This is my 8th Seagate Drive, one lasted 4.5 years after heavy use on XBOX ONE S (the 4TB green portable game drive) and the rest are still in use.Bought this (8TB game drive) as a backup for media and general files for long-term storage.Contrary to Q&A's, it works fine on PC, works out at £15 per TB (purchased at £120), so worked out great value, even compared to internal 3.5 drives. Usually for a HDD in mid-2021 it's around £20-25+ per TB. Western Digital has also been reputable to be fair but their similar external drive was around £40-50 more.Overall, I've just installed it and am starting backups, I will update later if needed but can recommend. Also, it's industry standard to get less capacity than stated in marketing i.e. real life 1 TB = 1,024 GB, and manufactures assume 1TB = 1000 GB, they use standard base-10 numbers that people are more familiar with. I'm used to this so discount any low review with this as a reason. Also actual capacity is effected by how the drive is formatted. Also, SMR is fine for me (the way it writes data, once the drive is full, it slows down somewhat when replacing data), if you need faster then get a NAS Drive like the IronWolf for high Capacity but be warned they are designed to always be on, and are much more expensive. And just a last note, I assumed my fastest USB ports would be the front panel of my PC but nope, so make sure you are using on the fastest port available, tested on a USB.3.2 port.Gave Portability 5 Stars as it is designed for desktop use, also it's fine to move, just remember it needs external power.

Brilliant little palm held Hard Drive that a Baby could install.
I used this product with an Xbox One S 1tb UK version.I have been using this product for a while, 5-6 months maybe longer. Absolutely no issues. In fact I am seriously considering upgrading to the 4GB product.Ease of use:Cannot get any easier than plug into a USB port. A baby could plug this thing in, (though nobody should Never allow a baby or a young child anywhere near electric of any sort.)My only complaint, Seagate you reading with your ears open? Needs a hook or strong hole with wings molded into the housing somehow. The very short USB cable is our, us customers problem but Seagate, help your customers attach your product safely away from other electrical devices on the nearest wall as recommended in your guide, thus preventing damage caused by accidental falls from the USB cable straying into oblivion until big human vessel clashes with it knocking the hard drive onto the Planet Floor surface or another entity, a Dog decides to have USB cable for a snack. Hmm, shockingly delicious. (See what I wrote there? Shockingly delicious.. Shockingly... Nevermind.)SeaGate, This is A great product but could be an Amazing product... give this product a new great usable housing. Add the ability to hang on the wall with hooks, "Yuk", or my favourite, Strong holes with inner wings for us customers to hang anywhere we decide providing its away from other electrical devices or alternatively, Seagate, you could just add some, INSULATION thus protecting the hard drive from whatever it needs protecting from. That's okay Seagate, no trouble at all but I'll quite happily trial your new hard drives with insulation if and when you invent them.

Seagate Game Drive for Xbox
Recently, my son has been complaining that he is unable to download any more games on his XBox One as there is no space. With half term on the horizon and the knowledge he would want to play for longer than he is allowed during the school week, I began to look for some way to increase the memory on his console. There are a bewildering number of possibilities on the market, but this seemed to be the easiest. In size, it is about the same size as an XBox One game and it is, indeed, simplicity to use. You simply plug it into the XBox console, give it a name and it installs in minutes. In fact, my son did this himself, with no problem at all. Within a very short period, he had space to download many more games. You plug this in with a USB cable and my son has taken this to his cousin's house and plugged it in to his XBox One console and used it with no problem. You just need to sign in, but it worked perfectly. A really easy solution to the problem, which is extremely portable, and allows between forty to fifty games to be installed (depending on the size of the game). I would certainly recommend it if you have the same problem and are not particularly confident with technology, as it is so easy to install and use.

Shingled Drives can cause problems.
I've owned a few of these drives for a while now (One of these and two black ones). I was close to sending this one back recently as I started to get timeouts and USB disconnects. However, I did a bit of testing and found that:- It was easy to reproduce - random read (or write) I/Os towards the end of the disk did the trick.- It happened in Windows and Linux.- It also happened when I tried the same tests on the other drives, which had so far caused no issues. What I think is happening is the operations, which are longer because of the shingling process, were simply taking too long and the drive was becoming saturated. Once a timeout threshold is reached, the I/O will be retried - you will see this in the System log in Windows, or dmesg in Linux (not sure how logging is done on Macs as I don't use them, but it will be similar). Too many retries and the OS will reset the USB port and it's downhill from there. The simple rule here is you cannot use these drives for anything remotely day-to-day. Use them to store and retrieve data long term and try not to do much more with it. In my case all I was doing was some downloads directly onto the drive (multiple parallel downloads hence random I/O). Instead do your work on better disks - either internal HDDs/SSDs or non-shingled USB drives, and then copy the data across.Still, the price per capacity is good on these. As long as you know their limitations.

We can't download more games if we dont stop the banished
Kinda lame how you have to move certain games from this to your internal hard drive, like new games such as Halo Infinite, Battlefield and others; but none the less it's really good. Holds lots of storage, looks great and super easy to use. And it's a Master Cheif one, recommended. They know what the ladies like.
