Metric Pattern Cutting for Women's Wear, 6th Edition

As per reviews this book gives you all you need to get your blocks drafted. It's been years since I drafted blocks and patterns so I need to start from scratch. This is perfect. Am a bit boggled looking at it but am confident I will be able to follow the instructions laid out. Would highly recommend to any student or someone like me - I would imagine this is a go to book for many novices and experienced alike.

The book is hardback and arrived in good condition and is brand new. I am a student tailor and use this to support me on my course in the making of The Tailored Jacket. It comes recommended by my colleges as it is the standard book used in class at this time. There a few errors spotted but I overlook this as I’m used to the author’s methodology and techniques in garment construction from another textbook in the series. I highly recommend this textbook as a useful studying companion and resource in fashion and tailoring.

Just what I was looking for.

As a beginner in pattern drafting I had to get advice on how to use the instructions.It does only cover drafting and not cutting out and assembling the fabric.

This is an absolutely brilliant book. Some of the reviews have said its too technical. It is a little technical - but if you start right at the beginning and take your time - it makes you really understand the craft of pattern drafting and using a basic block to tailor to individual sizes and allow for 'problem areas' - e.g. like me big boobs ! It shows how the basic block is adapted to make the whole range of garments, demonstrating how clothes are put together. Its NOT a sewing book .. its a pattern drafting book. Great .............

Comprehensive book on making pattern blocks to fit! Shop bought patterns are expensive and often don't fit properly. With this book, I can draft my own pattern blocks to use as a template for many different outfits.

This is the one to get if you are starting out. It is a text book for students published by Wiley. It's set out clearly and simply but professionally and has a big range of form and flat blocks for a huge range of patterns plus adaptions and it's right up to date. Loads of exciting things to make from lingerie to exercise and outdoor wear to smart tailored coats. You can use the industry standards or your own measurements and it deals with sloping shoulders and all the weird forms we take up over years! I bought Pattern Magic by Tomoko Nakamichi first but too hard. Will use it later when I have actually learnt some basic craft! 17 December 2017 - have made my first pair of trousers to my own design and measurements and it was the experience I hoped for. They fit and look exactly as I wanted them too - and now I can't wait to do more!

Love it recommend for my college course and love how much you can do with it.

Il libro contiene tutte le istruzioni per imparare a fare i propri cartamodelli con facilità, ho trovato le spiegazioni chiare ed efficaci. Senza contare le tante informazioni accessorie che una sarta amatoriale come me trova utilissime. Certo è scritto in inglese, ma io un libro equivalente in italiano non l'ho trovato. Per me non è un problema, ma forse anche chi conosce un po' meno la lingua può arrangiarsi a leggerlo. Sono molto contenta dell'acquisto, ma sapevo che ne valeva la pena perché il volume è segnalato sui social da innumerevoli sewist estere.

This Book is Godly, the font. The content, i have been wanting to buy this book since 2019. Now that i got it, i’ma study harder and develop my fashion design skills. A designer starter pack indeed

Best book ever. Easy to follow, draft and understand. All the collection is a MUST HAVE to anyone who wants to start drafting your own patterns.

This is my favourite pattern making book, I have relied on it for years. With the new edition I found some useful information and a few new drafts related to contemporary clothing. Even taking measurements is shown clearer in the front and back body measurement diagram, if you make custom/personal garments. The information is spread out nicely. I have the 4th edition, I didn't think the 5th edition is a waste, although I do wish they ADDED drafts for MORE cool garments. Like I was hoping for more pant and trouser patterns, that is why I bought the book in the first place. I was looking for more bespoke pant option ideas, for fitted pants in woven fabrics. Lastly, patterns need fine tuning according to sizes, but the base instructions and modications required thereafter as directed in the following pages as per your need makes your foundation solid.
