These are an essential periodic consumable replacement item for your ALUMINIUM (not the stainless steel) Prestige pressure cooker. These seals fit and perform correctly as they’re genuine Prestige items.I use my Prestige pressure cooker almost every day, and one many of those days I use it more than once. Over time they harden and shrink a little and eventually don't seal effectively. I tend to find that mine need changing every three to six months, but I do use mine far more than most people. My late mum had the same model and only needed an annual replacement.There are some third party seals available but they're not much cheaper; I've only used them once before and found they needed changing far sooner. I know other users (such as my mum and aunt) who have used non-original seals and found that they were a poor fit and didn't seal very well. These things aren't expensive considering the huge amount of time I save by pressure cooking.Note that you MUST buy the correct seal for your cooker: the aluminium cookers use these black seals and the stainless steel models (which don't work to the same high pressure) must use the light grey version.Either way, NEVER put the seals through a dishwasher: that ages them far more quickly and will result in them lasting half as long at best. Just wash them manually using washing-up liquid and water and after drying wipe them over with a paper kitchen towel and a little cooking oil and then refit into the lid.

I've bought these seals twice now. I use my mums very old, original prestige pressure cooker weekly. These seals fit and work well, but only seem to last 3-4 months at a time. They don't go through the dishwasher, only hand washed. I should probably upgrade to an electric one, but there's something wonderfully nostalgic about using the same pot, my now deceased mum used, to make dinners for my children

This was the correct size for my vintage Prestige hi-dome but the term quality could not be used to describe it. The surface was very badly moulded, having a smooth shiny surface in a few places, and randomly and also very generously interspersed with very dull, poorly surfaced parts all over. There were also a few visible "nicks" in the fine inner edges. Needless to say it leaked steam and water all over my ceramic hob. I received a refund. The problem lies with Myer, who took over Prestige, out-sourcing production of these gaskets for older models. The quality of the gaskets for current models, which I have viewed in local shops seem up to the origional standard and look perfect. I also viewed these out -sourced, replacement gaskets in my local store which had seven of them. They were equally as poorly made. I phoned the Myer/Prestige helpline and they confirmed that these older replacements are out-sourced. All I can say is that sadly, this does nothing for the excellent reputation for which Prestige and Myer have been renowned.I really don't like to give a bad review, but in this instance I really felt it was important to do so.
