A good quality digital lock at a good price
Looks good and with good comprehensive installation instructions. Appears to be well made and of better quality than the lock it was replacing that was from a different manufacturer.

Some good points and some bad points. You have to enter the code to lock!
So I installed this on an external gate I had just built. First up I changed the code which was easy enough if you follow the instructions, then I tested the lock as advised to do so in the instructions and all seemed fine. Then I fitted the lock, this is where I made the mistakes, I hadn't taken into consideration the maximum thickness of the gate, so out came the dremel and I recessed the lock. As I say though this was my mistake. Fitting the lock itself was relatively easy and the supplied template was accurate. It was only after fitting the lock that I noticed you have to enter the code to open it, then also enter the code to lock it. I really wasn't expecting this and it wasn't stated in the spec anywhere that this was the case. The latch stays inside the barrel until you enter the code and turn the handle clockwise again. This even applies to locking the door from the inside, you need to put the code in first.By this point i'd fitted it and wasn't going to remove it again. One plus point of this mode is that you wouldn't lock yourself out by letting the gate swing shut but then again anyone passing through the gate that way would usually know the code to get back in.One downside to this feature was somebody forgot to lock the gate and during the night the gate blew open and we thought initially that someone had forced it.We'll see how long this door lock stands up to the elements, the rubber seals are good quality but I didn't see any sealing for the front buttons when I had the lock open to change the code. All in all though, worth the money compared to some of the more expensive units.

On back gate, seem ok so far!
Have this on my back gate.Has only been on there for a few months so can't say how good it will be through the winter, but at the moment it's brilliant. Can leave the garden locked up, but not have to worry about keys!Easy enough to fit, though I needed to buy a large drill bit to dig out the recess for the locking mechanism.Have found that if it's over tightened then the lock doesn't ping back again. A few turns to loosen and it's free again.

Complicated, flawed junk
I was hopeful when this arrived - the quality seemed OK. My heart sank when I opened the instructions. They are absolutely terrible. There is also a very important paper template to ensure you drill the holes in your door in the right place. This is even worse than the instructions. There are also no obvious installation videos on YouTube, like you'd expect. I figured out the template, and I know I got it right because everything fitted perfectly. However, once all fitted, when I entered the code, the latch stuck. There was no way of popping it back - I had to 'un-fit' it all. I repeated this process 3 more times, checking everything I could have possibly done wrong. There was nothing. I'm a fairly handy carpenter and used a standard combination of drill, Stanley knife, and precision chisels to cut everything out of the door precisely. Everything was in its right place, everything was used, no part of the door was interfering with any part of the mechanism. But every time it was all assembled, I keyed in the lock, turned the handle, and the bloody latch jammed fast. So, of course, I've packed it all up and sent it back for a refund. Meanwhile I'm left with a door full of holes.

solid, but difficult to install
we needed loads of special kit to get this fixed, the instructions were very complex and where you'd really need more detailed instructions, they were not provided.Once fixed, it works very well and is solid. I would recommend a professional or experienced installer.

Excellent lock; a couple of small things to be aware of when installing
Bought to give my kids some privacy from each other and also bought a couple for other doors.Quality seems very good. Solid and with a smooth action. Reasonably easy to set / change the combination.Installation is straightforward if you've got the right tools and a bit of DIY skill, and read and understand the instructions first. The first took me about an hour and by the last one I was down to just over 30 minutes.Just two things to note:- The template provided in the instructions shows three lines for different "Backsets". The size of the backset is printed on the box the lock comes in but this isn't mentioned anywhere.- Use the template provided with the lock. There is a downloadable version on the website but the positioning of some of the holes is wrong.

Very good lock.
Good lock for the price. We bought this for our side gate which my husband had to thicken to fit the lock - this was minor as he had made the gate anyway. The lock comes with an excellent template for accurate positioning of the screw holes.Confusingly, the code is shown on the card as CODE: C12345 - leave out the C when you input the code, enter just the 5 digits. But if you input the wrong code press the C button to clear it. I've only given it 4 stars because you have to dismantle the lock to change the code.Thank you to all who left reviews and answered questioned - immensely helpful. We initially had the problem someone mentioned - after opening the gate the latch kept staying in unless the code was entered again to release it. We found that changing to a longer spindle cured the problem, the latch now opens and closes as you would expect. There is also a handy little button to hold the latch back while you put the bins out.

Not durable
Was working for about 20 months, then something happened with the mechanism inside the lock that it would just not open/close. Almost got locked out. Luckily we could enter the house from the back garden
