Inspirational Reference Book!
This book is lovely to look at and is destined to become a firm favourite. When I buy a crafting book I want to see hints, tips, information, photos, diagrams and masses of inspiration. What I usually seem to end up with is a great wodge of text at the beginning of the book detailing the entire world history of the craft (or, worse still, the author) before getting to the nitty-gritty of why I bought it in the first place. This book has very little preamble, apart from what is essential to be able to appreciate what follows, and I was deeply engrossed very quickly. Rather than projects to tackle it offers clear information and illustrations, dangling in front of you the virtually irresistable temptation to have a go at all the different techniques. This pleased me no end (does anyone actually make those naff slippers, bell pulls and spectacle cases that crop up with nauseating regularity in other books?) but you get all the details you need regarding materials, tools, findings, threads, and suppliers to hopefully set you off on a wildly creative journey of your own. If you want projects and patterns to follow or a tome on the history of beading then look for something else to cover your needs, but I would really recommend you buy this one too because it will fill in all the gaps the others leave and give you a better understanding of the subject. There is only one very slight downside - it's a soft-covered volume which I suspect may not entirely stand up to the amount of handling it's going to get from me.

Beading bookshelf essential
Excellent book for all the basic beading techniques. It covers all the basic essentials that you need to know together with design hints and tips. The photographs and coloured line drawings together with plainly written text explain everything logically step by step. Just what you need. At the back of the book there is a list of suppliers, web sites and societies, useful for being able to source beading materials (not always easily available in local shops - especially if you live in the country like I do). A good value for money book - I don't think you will be disappointed.

As a beginner this is the book I've been looking for. It shows me everything i wanted to know about beading techniques, tools needed and how to use them and types of beads as well as design ideas Its very easy to get to grips with thanks to the picture illustrations for everything. I don't think anything has been left out Its the only book i'll ever need on the subject - and it is also great value for money Thank you

Although this book contains many different styles, and other information I found it light on the beadweaving, with nothing really different from The Encyclopedia of Beading Techniques by Sarah Withers and Stephanie Burnham.

Great reference book
I am new to beading and decided to get a couple of kits to try first. Reading the instructions was like reading a different language, as it mentioned techniques and tools without any explanation, assuming that the reader knew these things already. I needed something which explained all this, gave tips and hints on what to do, especially when things go wrong, and found it, and more, in this book. It takes you through all the different tools, how to use them, when to use them, the different types of beads, wires etc. All in all an invaluable resource to have for both the novice starting out and the more experienced want inspiration.

Das Buch ist richtig gut. Ganz ohne Vorbehalte. Also wirklich was für jeden noch-nicht-ganz-Profi..

Jean Power is one of the major seedbead artists and teachers around the world, and especially in England ~ I think that they feel that she walks on water over there. I met her on-line years ago and she is a wonderful person. I feel it a privilege to own this book even tho it is primarily for beginners. It will hold a place of honor in my bead library. marilyn peters

many information with full of photos as there are step by step explanations with photos for techniques, which are useful. However, some information are missing like how to make a necklace with beads with a double thread. In addition, it is not step by step processes for making some basic projects, which could have been added at the end of the book. Plus, the part of beadweaving takes almost 45% (64 pages) of the book, whereas beadweaving does not represent 45% of beading works on any jewellery market. The part of how to make a simple neacklace or simple bracelet with a thread represents only 14 pages. And the introduction part speaking about material, tools, thinking of a design..., which is not very useful but a waste of pages for most of them, represents 45 pages. (almost 30% of the book). Thus, little disappointed by this book.

It didn't contain the info I needed; read more like an advanced guide with little bead info. Maybe better for someone else.
