Casio Wave Ceptor Men's Watch WV-58DU

As I type this, the hour beep has just gone off on my watch and I know that it is 10.00am TO THE SECOND. I am thrilled with this watch, which I bought precisely because I needed to know that the time I was looking at was actually the exact time that the rest of the world is working to. My line of work requires me to be at certain places and start & finish important meetings ON TIME so now I can have confidence that my watch is correct when I'm checking whether I am on schedule. As for updating, I did wonder whether this little watch would be able to pick up the radio signal from Cumbria each night because I live in a fairly built up area with houses all around. But I needn't have worried. I would say it has picked up the signal nightly 97% of the time since I've had it and it checks on the hour from 1am to (I think) 5am. It's even updated whilst on my wrist but it is best for it to be sat on the bedside table or on the windowsill to be certain. And if on the rare occasion it doesn't get the signal, you can press the button during the day, leave it for a minute or so and then the satellite icon comes back on to let you know it's back up to atomic levels! Some of the other aspects of this watch are as follows. It doesn't look like a typical digital watch in that the resin strap version I have has a pleasing 'metal' look around the face. Also the display is slightly magnified & that looks good. A pleasant watch to wear. Some reviewers have commented on the timer being a maximum of only 60 minutes but if you need to time your Sunday Roast for an hour and a half, you could just reset it for half an hour after the first beep goes off. I think there is a newer version of this watch from Casio now but it's a tad more expensive. But the price for this model is just AMAZING from Amazon for the key feature this watch gives you, which is a watch that is as accurate as the time the Stock Exchange, the BBC, the Emergency Services, National Rail & bus companies, solicitors etc use to stay up to date themselves. A word of warning though. Ever since I've had it, I've been compelled to find out which clocks are pip accurate and which aren't. You may be surprised to know that digital BBC 24hr News Channel is 2-5 seconds late on Cable & Freeview. Digital radio is anything from 2 to 8 seconds late. My local branch of Barclays was 20 seconds slow and so on & so on! Analogue BBC Radio 4's pips are perfect, even more pleasingly when the Casio's seconds trip along happily to Big Ben at Westminster. On the Internet there is one site I found which gives atomic accuracy for time and that is time.is ("time.is" is the web address or you can Google it). So in summary I don't think you can go wrong picking up this timepiece at this price even if it's a second watch to wear when you need to know you have correct time. In fact, the only time I've worn my lovely Rotary watch since (at an important business meeting), I had this one in my pocket all the time! Enough said! Want to know more? Comment and I'll reply. UPDATE: 17 FEB 2012 After about a year of very satisfying use, my watch stopped picking up the signal and reverted back to a date in 2005. It didn't appear to do a forced update either. I had the battery checked at the local jewellers. It was nearly full. I happily discovered there was a two-year warranty on the product, rang up Casio in London and then as I had business just two streets down I popped it in to them. About a week later it arrived back in the post having been 'reassembled' and appeared to have exactly the same fault. I was a little peeved and rang them back up to ask for a replacement but the engineer on the phone took me through a process where you set the country you are in. For some reason the watch had been set to Tokyo and therefore wasn't picking up the Anthorn transmission in Cumbria. Once it was reset to LON and ENG, the watch picked up perfectly and is now back on my wrist. It is SO good to know that you have perfectly accurate time displaying on your watch. I really missed it when I didn't have it. So I don't know whether the module failed or for some reason the watch got set to the wrong setting. I just know I'm happy it's working again!

This watch is excellent - you could not do better for the price or twice the price. I've had it for over a year and it has seen more expensive and fancier watches come and go for the following reasons: + It is 100% accurate + It is easy to read the time + date + day of the week (easier than any other waveceptor I'm aware of and I've owned others) + It is light (because the case is made of plastic with a stainless steel protector/facade + Unobstrusive - can be worn under shirt sleeve(only 11mm thick which is pretty much the thinnest you can get a waveceptor or any other "atomic" watch at the moment) + Other functions are easy to use(such as world time which I have used on several occasions) + Month/Day date config can be changed between UK/US format + It looks great despite the pricetag + It is robust without being annoyingly bulky and odd looking (g-shock - I'm looking at you here). I've done all sorts of DIY in this (including getting it covered in cement) but it has survived everything I've thrown at it. + Good light for night reading ONLY negative: It's not solar powered which means that I will either have to replace the battery in a few years or will have to chuck it and get another of the same model (if it still exists then). This, however, is not the watch's fault and reduces the amount of functions which can go wrong so could be construed as a positive! CASIO TAKE NOTE: if you make this exact watch with tough solar (without making the watch thicker or bulkier), you would have yourself a watch that blows all other of this class out of the water (in my humble opinion). I traditionally though that a watch with a plastic body was tacky and put off wearing the watch, favouring more showy models - but I love this because it means the watch is light so really don't mind it. It also means that the watch has no problem picking up the radio signal it needs to calibrate itself. I have heard complaints about the strap which I found relatively tricky to adjust but once adjusted, it is light unobtrusive. If you buy it for the right reasons - this is one watch purchase you will never regret.

Tout est bien, c'est l'article que je voulais: - tout est reglable en français (JJ/MM/AAAA), heure au format 12 ou 24h, compte a rebours precis et programmable à la minute, alarme, chronometre, et bracelet plastique "resine" OK De plus, son design est réussi. Il est plus agréable et classe que le modèle précédent, qui avait les mêmes fonctions (mais pas le reglage automatique de l'heure par le satellite de Frankfort), et que j'ai détenu pendant de nombreuses années - il fonctionne encore !!!! Par contre, je recherche toujours une Casio qui avait le compte-à-rebours "auto" ou pas. (réarmement automatique dès le temps écoulé: cela permet de faire sonner à intervalles réguliers, sans aucune intervention!) Pouvez-vous vérifier votre montre sur "compte-à-rebours", et voir si vous avez la position "auto" ? Si OUI, je suis preneur du nom ou numéro du modèle !!

A diferencia de lo expuesto por algunos usuarios respecto a problemas con los ajustes, yo no he tenido ningún problema por ahora. El reloj se sincroniza todas las noches. El único pero que puedo decir es que cada ajuste que hace el reloj he de reajustar la segunda hora que tengo la de Londres y pone automáticamente la función DTZ y yo quiero la hora UTC. Pero se soluciona pulsando el botón superior izquierdo.

Ich war auf der Suche nach 1 guten, aber preiswerten Funk-Armbanduhr mit Alarm und nicht metallischem Armband! Mit dieser Uhr hab ich alle Wünsche erfüllt bekommen, die für mich wichtig waren... Samstagabend bestellt - Dienstagnachmittag schon geliefert! So kennt man Amazon! Die Uhr kam in 1 kleinen, aber feinen Karton sicher verpackt an. 1 mehrsprachige Bedienungsanleitung war auch dabei. Da sie in den kleinen Uhrenkarton passt, ist sie entsprechend klein, weshalb auch die Schrift leider extrem klein ist. Dafür ist die Anleitung aber sehr gut und leicht verständlich... Und nachdem ich einmal hinter das Menüprinzip der Uhr gestiegen bin, brauchte ich auch die Anleitung nicht mehr, um beispielsweise die Alarmzeit zu ändern... Meine Uhr war auf die USA eingestellt, als sie ankam, weshalb ich sie erstmal auf Deutschland einstellen musste. Als das erledigt war, löste ich die manuelle Uhrzeitsuche aus und innerhalb von 3 Minuten hatte sie die richtige Uhrzeit samt Datum und Wochentag empfangen! Nachts erfolgte dann auch die automatische Synchronisation per Funksignal und seitdem war auch unten rechts immer das Funksymbol zu sehen. Die Uhrzeit kann von 12 auf die 24 Stundenanzeige umgestellt werden und das Datum auf das "deutsch-typische" Datumsformat Tag-Monat-Jahr... Und die Menüsprache lässt sich selbstverständlich auch auf Deutsch einstellen... Laut Anleitung sollte man die Uhr nachts abnehmen und ans Fenster legen - entfernt von metallischen Gegenständen, damit sie 1 guten Funkempfang hat... Ich habe die Uhr ständig um - auch nachts, und schlafe zudem in 1 Metallbett! Bisher hat meine Uhr immer nachts pünktlich um 2:03 Uhr das Funksignal empfangen und das Funksymbol wird immer komplett angezeigtl, was auf 1 sehr guten Funkempfang hindeutet - trotz nächtlichem Tragen im Metallbett! ;-))) Die Uhr sitzt Dank dem Kunststoff-Armband einfach perfekt an meinem Arm, ohne mir ständig ins Handgelenk zu rutschen! Das Armband fühlt sich so recht steif an, beim Tragen jedoch empfinde ich es aber als sehr angenehm am Arm. Auch finde ich die Größe der Uhr super! Sie ist nicht zu groß, aber auch nicht zu klein, so dass sie von Männlein und Weiblein gleich gut getragen werden kann. Zudem scheint sie sehr robust zu sein und auch das Glas scheint Einiges abzukönnen... Bisher ist das Glas jedenfalls frei von Kratzern. Für den Timer oder die Stoppuhr habe ich bisher keine Verwendung gehabt. Mir kam es auf den Alarm an. Der Alarmton ist wirklich sehr leise - wenn ich schliefe, würde ich davon nie und nimmer wach werden. Umso besser ist er bei der Arbeit geeignet... Ich arbeite im Büro und vergesse bei der Arbeit oftmals den Feierabend... Jetzt werde ich immer 5 Minuten vorher daran erinnert, dass es langsam Zeit wird zum Ende zu kommen. Somit ist für mich der recht leise Alarmton einfach perfekt, weil so praktisch nur ich ihn höre. ;-))) Und auch den leisen einstellbaren Stunden-Signalton finde ich super und bei mir immer aktiviert! Für mich ist die Uhr einfach perfekt, genauso wie sie ist und sie erfüllt alle meine Wünsche und Erwartungen. Das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis ist einfach spitzenmäßig und die Uhr macht 1 qualitativen und hochwertigen Eindruck! Von mir gibt es 1 ganz klare Kaufempfehlung und ich würde die Uhr auch jederzeit wieder kaufen! UPDATE: 15.03.2024 Ich hatte die Uhr damals im Februar 2019 gekauft, aber leider war das Armband nach nur etwa 1 3/4 Jahren am Federsteg (wo das Armband an der Uhr verbunden ist) ausgerissen! War erst am Überlegen, ob ich mir einfach ein neues Armband für die Uhr kaufe, da die Uhr bis dahin einwandfrei funktionierte! Aber wenn ich alle 2 Jahre ein neues Armband für ca. 10€ kaufen soll, weil die aus Kunststoff nicht länger halten, dann ist das auch nicht das Gelbe vom Ei! So kaufte ich mir im November 2020 die gleiche Casio Wave Ceptor Funk-Armbanduhr erneut - aber diesmal mit einem Edelstahl-Armband! Und dies war eine gute Entscheidgung! Das Edelstahl-Armband hält bis heute - genauso wie die tolle Uhr selbst! Sie sieht nach fast 3 1/2 Jahren noch immer aus wie neu (obwohl ich sie nach wie vor Tag und Nacht trage) und auch das Uhrenglas hat bis heute keinen Kratzer abbekommen! Selbst die Batterie habe ich bis heute noch nicht einmal wechseln müssen - und dies obwohl der tägliche Alarm und der stündliche Signalton immer aktiviert sind! Somit bin ich nach wie vor absolut mega-angetan und total zufrieden mit der Casio Wave Ceptor! Ich würde sie mir jederzeit erneut kaufen! Die Qualität, Langlebigkeit und super-lange Laufzeit der Batterie sprechen für sich, was das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis einfach unschlagbar macht! Somit gibts selbstverständlich auch weiterhin die vollen 5 Sterne und eine klare Kaufempfehlung!

Ottimo orologio digitale!!! Funziona davvero bene, e' radiocontrollato quindi riceve il segnale dell'orologio atomico di Francoforte e di conseguenza e' precisissimo!!! E' dotato di retroilluminazione "Illuminator" brevettata da Casio. Esteticamente e' molto gradevole, molto piu' bello che in foto!!! In conclusione lo consiglio assolutamente a chiunque cerchi un orologio digitale di ottima qualita' e fattura.

Habe die Uhr seit 17 Monaten und bin nach wie vor 100% zufrieden. Sie ist gut ablesbar, ich brauche eine Lesebrille Stärke 1,7 Uhrzeit und Datum kann ich aber auch ohne Brille gut ablesen. Menüführung würde ich als einfach bezeichnen. Robust, ich trage die Uhr bei der Arbeit und schramme öfter mal irgendwo lang auch an rostigen Metall. Bisher habe ich aber keinen Kratzer im Glas feststellen können. Energieverbrauch, mußte bisher keine Batterie tauschen obwohl ich relativ häufig das Licht brauche und den Funkuhrmodus, bis auf einen Monat, in Automatic stehen hatte. Wer die Batterie schonen möchte kann das Funksignal auch manuell anfordern. Automatisch sucht die Uhr täglich zwischen 2 und 3 Uhr Morgens nach dem Funksignal und wiederholt die Suche mehrfach falls das Signal nicht gefunden wurde. Ich habe das mal einen Monat lang abgeschaltet um das Quarzwerk zu testen. Meine Uhr ging nach einem Monat ohne Funkbetrieb 20 Sek. vor. Gut finde ich auch das die Uhr anzeigt wann sie das letzte Funksignal empfangen hat. So läßt sich leicht feststellen ob die Uhr da wo man sie Nachts üblicherweise ablegt das Signal empfangen kann. Wenn nicht wäre es ratsam sich einen neuen Ablageort zu suchen a) um die Batterie zu schonen und b) wegen der Genauigkeit. Das einzige Manko ist der Wecker, der Weckton ist schon sehr leise. Ansonsten durchweg empfehlenswert.
