Is there a charging indicator? There is no sign of it when I plug the cable to the power.

Hi, there is a charging indicator - red when charging and green when complete. However, I've found that the indicator only works with non super-fast chargers, not my charger with c connection both ends. Hope this helps.

Can you use this torch safely while it is charging? I think that requires current limiting protection, does it have this?
