DEWALT DCS391 Circular Saw XR 165 mm Bare Unit, 9 W, 18 V, Yellow/Black

I've wanted a cordless circular saw for a while and this one is just brilliant. Comes as a bare unit, so no battery but I have a drill in the XR range with a second battery so that works for me. If you register the tool on the DeWalt website the guarantee is extended to 3 years. This one has a smaller diameter blade than my corded circular saw so it is good for DIY work not professional. It is really light, I was surprised, which makes it really easy to use without needing arms like Arnold Swarzenegger. Can raise the blade for shallow cuts and can angle for bevels too. I am so pleased with this saw and really glad I bought it.

This saw I found to be convenient to use. However the screw fixture that allows the base of the saw to tilt and lock was jammed or cross threaded. Using a pair of pliers I was able to free it and then resecure it. Eventually I will need to replace it with my own fixture. I could return the saw for a replacement, but I want to use it now and not have the hassle of replacing it.

There is much to recommend the De Walt circular saw. I have previously reviewed this product but as part of a 'Stak' box set incorporating the saw, a battery, a blade and battery charger. The purchase that I now review relates to the 'bare' product of saw only - no battery, no charger ... although it did include a blade (which I actually wasn't expecting). So now I have 2 De Walt circular saws, and for good purpose: you can't get enough of a good thing! The saw itself is balanced perfectly and makes light work of even the most dense of woods. Intricate cuts are easy to set up (although a practice cut in advance is always good advice) and the variable depth setting is ideal for cutting grooves for subsequent chiselling, or for a specific depth to avoid unwanted cutting of a surface below. You will get optimum performance using De Walt rechargeable batteries which I have found to outlast other brands and deliver the kind of sawing resilience needed for longer jobs. All in all, I have been very pleased by both the build standard and performance of the De Walt circular saw.

Good deal, this circular saw is quite useful for cutting in different angles as well, would be nice to tell that it comes with a blade already.

My dad needed a portable saw. He absolute loves this says it’s one of his best tool to use on the fly for all sorts of jobs and is very sturdy too, accuracy really depends on how slow and steady you are, and that the Batteries from the drills he has of the same brand work in this too which makes everything al it easier which makes the drill last longer too but batteries last quite a while

1st the Good Great Bare Saw ( No Battery ) as expected Great Price, A lot Cheaper than that Screwy in a Fix place ( but may be you get it in a Dewalt Yellow and Black box ) Not to heavy, but well balanced and weighted with a Battery fitted. Niggles Bought from Amazon not a seller, so I expected it would be well packed. The saw came in a Normal thin Amazon Carton without any packing and the box could not contain the weight of the saw so the box was open at the taped flaps, but luckily the saw was undamaged and the booklet bag was inside okay. Be aware that this saw does not come in a yellow and Black Dewalt box, it comes BARE NO BOX OR BATTERY, but you do get the blade. I have a few Dewalt Tools and Register them on line to get a free 3 year guarantee if available. Be aware that this saw or mine at least, did not have the serial number on the label, it should be in a Small P panel quite different to the rest of the label black print. You can still regester it for the 3 years just be sure to have the Saw code DCS301 with the date purchased, sold by also the date code from the battery slot (get your specs for this as its made of melted dots in the plastic) I bought a Dewalt DCB184 5.0AH as i only had 2 small drill batteries, and i had also just bought a BARE Jig saw from a screwy place that is in a bit of a fix as the price was best around and that came in the Dewalt Yellow and Black box. BTW the 5AH Battery charges with my drill charger that i bought in 2014 but up to spec for the Lithium Batteries. Sorry if i have gone on a bit, I hope it helps. Regards Anthony
