Modern Guitar Method Grade 1 - Learn Rock Favorites (Modern Guitar Method (Mel Bay))

This book has almost no sheet music or tabs. You have to learn almost everything by watching someone play note-by-note on the DVD. Save your money and watch a YouTube video.

If you truly are a level 1 guitarist, this book is absolutely no help to you. It has useful information about tablature and shows power chords (without explaining power chords), but it's impossible to tell where in the Mel Bay method this fits in. I believe it is more suitable for a higher level. If you're looking to supplement your guitar method, this is not the book for you.

Doesn't teach you how to play songs. No music, tab or chord charts are included. DVD shows how to play riffs note by note by rote. Miserable! There are much better options available elsewhere. This goes for the whole supplemental series with Mel Bay book one.

The music in this book is well written, but the tunes are too short. There really isn't very much of it. It is meant as a supplement I think to th grade 1 book in the series and as such it is OK, but possibly unnecessary.
