Liquid Castile Soap 1Kg…

I am so happy with this purchase! I have just put the 5kg bottle in my amazon basket. I bought the 1kg bottle several months ago to use as a handwash. We have 5 people in our household and 3 bathrooms and I just hated buying bottles and bottles of chemical filled, brightly coloured handwashes - it was costing a small fortune not to mention the chemicals it was exposing us too! I researched castile soap and bought the 1kg bottle, some essential oils and some empty clear dispenser bottles thinking was this going to work..........! Well it has and I am so happy!! Just used as a handwash for a family of 5 I estimate 1kg will last at least 6 months. The first month is more expensive as you are buying the bottles and essential oil (you do not need the essential oil but it is nicer to have a sweet natural scent after washing your hands - the castile soap doesn't really have a smell so not like you are trying to mask anything, you are just adding your preferred smell - the essential oil will last a really long time!! You just need about 10 little drops per bottle). I HALF FILL the dispenser bottle with castile soap then fill to the top with water and then add the essential oil and shake. Yes - the handwash is much more watery than the thick horrible stuff you might be used to with chemical handwash soaps but when you rub your hands together - it gives a good coating of soap and when you rinse it off you feel completely clean and cleansed without any residue. This is the way to go for handwash!! natural, chemical free, no dispenser bottle wastage as you reuse them for aslong as they work, you can tailor the scent with natural essential oils and it works out cheaper (not a HUGE amount but probably half the cost). I haven't used it for shampoo, body cleanser or laundry but now I am hooked I probably will!

There are many uses for this soap and here are some I have tried.* Shampoo: Dilute first, its too strong to use neat - generally I have found 1 part soap to 3 parts water is about right.* Body wash: Dilute 1 part soap to 2 parts water Add a few drops of your favorite essential oil if you like.* Laundry: Couple of capfulls in the machine is a good substitute if you run out, I would say light soiling. Didn't work with filthy jeans!!! Havn't tried soaking yet.* General cleaning: Brilliant for cleaning baths, basins, loos and shower screens ( I use it neat for not a lot!) Floors - dilute 1 capfull in 1 litre water for economy. Adjust as necessary. Works great on my Karndean flooring.* Washing Up liquid/ Liquid hand soap. Use a capfull in washing up bowl. Dilute 2:1 in liquid hand dispenser (even less if you use the foamer hand dispenser)Kind to hands, no harsh detergents. Very light soapy fragrance. Would recommend you giving it a go if you are trying to reduce the number of chemicals used in the household.

This is not the 1st time I've bought this soap. It has a distinctive smell which some won't like. The smell won't stay on your skin or hair however .I use this soap for body wash and shampoo. Though it is a bit runny, I usually add Sorbitol, Dimethicone and other emollients to thicken it. I then add essential oils like sweet orange, lemon, lime and other citrus scents as they tend to smell stronger .I like the feeling on my skin after I've used it. My skin feels clean and soft without that silicon feel that can clog your pores.

amazing castile soap.make skin feels so soft.great to use as a shampoo with your own oils.Very thick and not runninghighly recommend.

I bought this product to try my hand at making my own soaps and shower gels to see how well it worked, before trying the larger product.It arrived promptly and well packaged and I couldn't wait to get it home to try experimenting. The product has a feint smell but it is not overpowering, so you can add your own fragrances using essential oils. I use a 50/50 mix of castile soap and distilled water, then add essential oils. When I have the fragrance that I want, I slowly add salt water, made by mixing table salt and boiling distilled water. I whisk this in gently and very slowly until I have the desired consistency, and then bottle it.If you are looking to eliminate chemicals, this is a great place to start, and a fabulous product. Highly recommended.

I'm okay with the strong smell myself, but the husband and kids hate it so I won't buy this again. I'm only using it in the kitchen and it seems to work okay, but it's not as thick as what we're used to either and it doesn't lather at all. I've read that castor oil has a shelf life of 1 year, so i'm trying to use this up as quick as I can.

Great soap! We use it as a hand wash and as a shower gel, adding our own essential oils. At first we were a bit doubtful, as it isn't as thick as other shower gels we've used but the difference with this one is that you only need a tiny amount on your sponge or pouf and you get so much lather! Very economic! The product comes with a smell of oil but it doesn't bother us at all, especially when it's so kind to our skin. Next time we're thinking about buying the 5 litres..
