Trend 7 inch Stainless Steel Digital Angle Finder Ruler, Precise Internal & External Measurements, DAR/200, Silver

I bought this as I needed an accurate angle measuring tool for making a complicated handrail on a double dog-leg stairs. My other Trend purchases have always been of decent quality and this is no different. I'm always a bit sceptical about the accuracy of relatively inexpensive tools but this has proven to be excellent at measuring accurate angles and then transferring them to my mitre saw resulting in very accurate angled cuts for the handrail. I like the way the locking mechanism doesn't require too much force to keep the two sections held in place. Another one of those useful things I should have purchased years ago. Definitely good value for money and something I will be using more in the future.

The Trend angle finder is a quality tool, like most Trend items. Read the instructions and follow them and it's easy to use. It will find acute and obtuse angles, if used in the correct manner. The 7" version is big enough format use, however larger surfaces may benefit from using one of the larger options. Buying from Amazon meant the price was good too.

I tried a bodge method using 2 bits of wood but the results were iffy. I then decided to get a specific tool for the job, and this was on special so grabbed it. Read the instructions, measured the angle and halfed the result it with some mental arithmetic. After setting the angle on my mitre saw and making the cuts, the result was a perfect internal corner mitre.

An excellent product which I have used a lot after purchasing it last year. I have found it very useful - now indispensable - when setting the blade angle and alignment on my saw bench and mitre saw. Previously I relied on a set square or protractor and sliding bevel, but this digital angle rule is more accurate and is easier to use. Recently I used it to set up m mitre saw's blade at an angle 22.5 degrees to make an octagonal picture frame. This is a standard 'stop' on the saw, but it turned out to be approximately 1 degree out when measured with the angle rule. I was able to fine-tune the setting to within one third of 1 degree and as a result the octagonal frame fitted together with no noticeable gaps between the mating surfaces after glue-up. It will save you time and money especially the cost of rework you otherwise would almost certainly have. It will pay for itself, depending on the project, the first few times you use it. But please note that although the angle rule is extremely accurate you need to take care when positioning it against a saw blade and the fence as it is possible to get a false reading. Measure twice, cut once!

Purchased 24th September 2024. Used once. Been in dry stable conditions since and has stopped working completely. Tried fresh batteries. Display flickers on and off continuously.
