Sturdy, Sexy & Cheap! Excellent Product!
Product arrived nice and early this morning - 2 days early, which is always nice and a seeminly recurring theme with Amazon. After reading the other reviews about this product I remained sceptical as to the build quality of such a cheap product. Man, was I wrong. This suspension scissor arm (thingy, the title isn't all that clear - somewhat amusingly) so far seems to be of excellent quality. It's holding up my Samson C01U with relative ease and all the little knobs are easily adjustable and come nice and tight. Surprisingly, the boom does not even sag under the weight of my mic. So far, I'd thoroughly recommend this product, especially considering it's amazingly cheap price. One year on (roughly) and this suspension boom is still holding up my mic with no issues at all. Definitely a worthwhile investment for anyone on a budget! I shall endeavour to update this review in about a month to see if the product is still as strong after some use.

Good value, reasonable build quality, just a little short.
Just set this stand up and first impressions are good... Pros: Build quality is reasonable for the price and it appears to hold a decent amount of weight. I'm using it with a rode NT1 vocal pack, which comes with quite a heavy mic cradle and it seems to have no trouble with it. Setting it up only took a couple of minutes as it came already assembled. I've not used the included mic clip that as my mic cradle replaces it so can't comment on that. Cons: My only complaint it is not as tall as I'd like it, I'd like each arm to be another 4 inches longer as I want to use my mic inverted and I can't get it in the position I ideally want. There isn't any instructions included, but you don't need any. There is a picture diagram on the side of the box, which is pretty self explanatory, although the labels are in Japanese/Chinese or something similar. Also When the arms are positions in the lowest possible position (i.e. the arms are 'closed' - all touching each other) the thumb screw to tighten it in position hits the springs, so you can't do it. But can't imagine a situation where you would want it in that position. Overall: For the money it appears to be good value and I'd buy one again. Tip: To keep everything neat, rather than wrapping a mic cable around the arm, which will invariably get pinched or tangled etc. I've zip tied mine to the back arm, leaving enough slack to allow for the full arm movement. It works well.

Amazing kit for the price
My son bought this to use with a Shure microphone Shure PG48, PG48-XLR I use when I do a bit of (bad) karaoke. He has it screwed to a desk to put voice overs on videos he makes with his friends (including FIFA 15 games). It woldn't look out of place in a radio studio The microphone fitted perfectly in to the adaptor, if you felt the urge you could cable tie it along the length of the arm but we haven't done that. The springs keep the arm in place and are simple to move. There is also a screw near the base which can be loosed to allow sideways movement. Very impressed with this, I originally thought my son had said it cost him £30 which would have been about right in my mind. For it to have actually cost a tenner is absolutely amazing for the quality. Top purchase and highly recommended.

Steady, secure and solid. Excellent quality for the price. Would buy again.
Ever since I moved to Scotland a bit over three years ago – leaving my old boom mic stand behind as it simply was too heavy, bulky and oddly shaped to suit any of my parcels, giving it away to my nephews who also dabble a bit in sound recording and music – my large diaphragm studio microphone has simply been left in a box with nothing to do. Recently, I had some recording needs that couldn’t be covered by my instrument mic, however, and so I finally decided to get a mic stand to attach to my desk, something I had long considered. This one was very cheap, yet from the pictures and reviews, it seemed sturdy enough that I chose to go for it, and I am glad I did. Even though the adapter that makes it fit my standard microphone attachment shock mount is made from plastic, making it the weakest spot of the whole design, my general impression is that this is a solid stand, with suitably tight joints to make it move where I want it to and stay there as long as needed. The relatively heavy weight of my Sontronics microphone and its shock mount seems to be all in a day’s work for this stand, and when not in use, I can simply push it out of the way at the back of my desk. I find it so much more practical than my old mic stand, though of course this one only makes sense if you do your recording work at a desk. So, for hobbyist home-recording instrumentalists, such as myself, who play sitting at a computer, or for those who do narration, voiceovers, broadcasts or podcasts, this is a very economically priced stand that might just suit your needs perfectly. As for the plastic adapter, I think it will hold up well. If it gives up some day, it shouldn’t be too hard to get a new one in metal, though it might cost the same as a new stand and I might just get another one instead. The Same one, of course, as I am quite happy with it and its excellent quality for the price.

I would have rated this product higher but for a couple of issues. It is a cheap product and does the job required and is fair value for the money. The desk clamp is lightweight pressed steel and I expect it ti bend soon.. The pivot of the arm that locates into the clamp is hollow pressed steel and a as you tighten the swivel knob it tends to distort the pivot. I had to find a piece of rod and force it into the pivol to stop it distorting. The pivot need to re-engineered as the design stage. That said it does the job required
