The Only Smart Plug TRUTH STUDIO will ever use extremely reliable
TRUTHs YouTube Studio is full of Neon lighting and Signs, plus a series of Lit signs. Nothing more annoying would be for us every day and evening to have to go round switch each and every item off, by using the Energenie Smart Plugs we are able to section off various parts. So how does this work I hear you ask well we have one of these plugs controlling a four-way on one and a six-way on the other two we then connect to the Four-way all of our Neon Lighting, the NEON Signs on a separate one this also includes our Marantz Turret which controls our Webcam and also Microphone. The Last item we control is our Monster Energy Fridge when its running its gurgles and the coolant annoyingly bubbles (need recharging) so we turn this off during Broadcast and Recording sessions so its so much easier to push the on / off on the remote than unplug the power plug behind our desks each time. All of our energenies are connected and talk to the Energenie Server another accessory that we will advise you getting this enables us to go into the Mi-home app and turn items on and off whenever we need to.Each Smart Plug has a push button on the front that when you hold down it flashes at this point you press a button on the remote control and it will link itself to that channel so easy.So lets get the Truth Unbox low down of these :PROS:- Easy to link to the remote.- Ability to connect to the Mi-Home App (Does require the Mi-Home Server0- Extremely reliable and don't forget there set up like other cheaper units.CONS:-Expensive compared to other units (Although others have been known to be unreliable)- Requires the Mi-Home Server.- Doesn't come with the remote control that's a further cost.So to conclude if you want a complete automation system this is one of the sections for it, it does the Smart Plug solution properly and does it really well and reliable too. We really don't use any other smart plug so reliable once set up.

The future has finally arrived. Excellent Product
This is a absolute amazing product which I have been waiting and looking out for years. I can now automate most of my house around my family’s routines. I originally purchased the mihome hub and 3 adapters but now have 9 adapter’s all around my house over all 3 levels of the house. I wanted to use the adapters on regular timers to turn on and off my home devices around our routines but also wanted family members to be able to override the pre-set timers at their own discretion, the mihome app has allowed us to achieve this as it is installed on all of our smartphones and tablets. The only problem i had at first was one of my 3 adapters did not seem to follow the timing commands all the time which i found a pain, but i learnt it was my ow doing as it was the only adapter that i linked far away from the mihome hub. You are suppose to link them close then move them away, once i relink this adapter it then behaved much better. Also i would recommend being patient when turning the adapters on and off via the app, allow 10 seconds as your request of on or off is not just occurring in your home.; Your device logs into your mihome account then sends the request via the internet to your home adapters-So even if your at home it still requires the internet. I am eventually going to buy even more adapters for my mihome system and would like to do some little projects such as turn on my home heating via an adapter controlling an Arduino or pi that will send wirelessly the command to my boiler to turn it on. Also i wouldn’t mind using one on my garage door to open it once the adapter is turned on.The app allows you to add 3 timers on each of your adapters which i have used in two was.1) To ensure the adapter turn on and off 100% of the time without fail by adding 3 multiple on and off commands. So if you want a lamp to come on at 1300 and go off at 2200 set timer(1) to 1300/2200 timer(2) 1301/2201 timer(3) 1302/22022) To ensure an adapter is turn off during the day if its been left on by a member of my family. So if your wife, partner or kids are always leaving on dangerous devices like hair straighteners. Find out when they are likely to want to use them lets say between 0700 and 1100 and set the 3 times like this. Timer(1) 0700/1100 timer(2)0701/1700 timer(3) 0703/2300. At least you know then the mihome hub will attempt turn off 3 times in the day.(Alternatively timer(1) could have been 0700/0705 if you dont trust the devices on the adapter)I think this mihome system will only improve as it further gets developed, it would be nice if the developer added more than 3 timers for each device or though this would be mire resource heavy for their servers. Also extra types of timers would be good such as a countdown timer (sleepmode) so when you turn on a device it can turn off after a pre-set time automatically. It would also be good if the app had widgets which you could put on your homescreen to control various adapters instead of having to launch the full app.

Decent if somewhat quirky
I bought 2 sets of these plus the hub. Setup was a breeze, in use they can occasionally be a little unpredictable. I find that they don’t always respond, both using the MiiHome app and also via the linked account to my Echo. Alexa sometimes reports.... device not responding. Firing up the Energenie app reveals the same problem. I tried restarting the hub, moving the hub and router, changing the sockets that the adapters were plugged into, etc, but nothing seems to improve the performance, these Energenie devices may well go back. I am not sure if its the Energenie Server that has the problem, or if its the hub. Sometimes there is a delay of 30 seconds between issuing a command and receiving a response. Switching a light on or off, especially via the Echo, and you think nothing is happening, and then 30 seconds later the state changes! I have now purchased a little hand held remote control for these units, which at least pairs directly to the 433 MHz adaptors, and provides Another switching option. Sometimes Echo isn't able able to control some devices due to the inability to delete devices, You are only able to disable them.. If you want something rock solid, this in not the answer. Maybe they will improve over time. Oh, and requesting support from Energenie, well I have requested a call back twice, and thats over the last week, I am still awaiting a response.UPDATE FEB 2019After a few software update, these improved a lot and they have been in constant use for a year... Highly Recommended if you don't mind the occasional quirkiness :)Support turned out to be decent too.
