I have silent reflux and try to stay away from highly acidic foods. I was bummed after having to go off of coffee (even decaf), and so I researched to find the one product that came the closest to tasting like real coffee. This one won in my book. It's made from roasted barley, rye, and chicory. (Remember the cowboys cooking their coffee over their camp fire? That was made from chicory.) Chicory contains, inulin, which is a powerful probiotic, so it's great for digestive disorders.None of these products will ever taste EXACTLY like coffee, but this does the trick for me. I still get the satisfying comfort and warmth that I used to get from a cup of coffee, but without the bitter, acidic reaction in my gut, the jitters, or the mid-day crashes. Adding cream and sugar also helps if you like your coffee creamy and sweet, but I've found that I enjoy it just black, maybe with just a teaspoon of natural sugar. I also make bulletproof coffee (Google it) with Cafix, coconut oil and butter (blended). The creamy, foamy, result is as good as a Cappucino!

I have tried other coffee substitutes and this is the one that to me tastes closest to coffee. I have to admit, though, it tastes more like instant coffee than your regular ground coffee. I like the ingredients in it which other coffee substitutes don't have like figs, which make it kind of sweeter than other substitutes. One thing to watch out for is the tendency for it to harden into a big clump if you don't use it very often.

The product is tasty whether cold or hot. I was disappointed that it was mailed in a plastic envelope and the container arrived cracked,

Tastes good for imitation coffee. Has a bolder flavor than other products I've tried.
