Not a Raspberry Pi drop-in replacement
I want to love this product, the hardware is great but the software is lacking. Using their images you can get an Ubuntu install, but even updated APT stops at Python 3.5. They have a custom implementation of RPi.GPIO (RPi.GPIO_NP) but it isn't Python 3 compatible, the project hasn't been contributed to in 4 years, and when I pulled down the code it doesn't even compile with their instructions. With the python2 limited code I did get the GPIO to function partially (pin input events didn't fire), but the pin numbers are all different than Raspberry Pi so if you get all the GPIO functionality working, all your pin references will have to be redone. Currently I'm trying to see if I can get the GPIO working on DietPi by editing the RPi.GPIO_NP codebase.I am fine with the shorter 24 pin header, it actually works even better for my needs, but the software just isn't there. I've tried submitting a couple of forum posts on their site to get some assistance, but they have to be approved by a moderator and I haven't seen them approved nor gotten any rejection notification from them.
