Meh
I purchased these beans for baking purposes. The vanilla beans came pre-split and there were only 4 in the package (not 5). The beans were flat and sticky; not plump nor fragrant. I was aware that these would not meet the same standards of Madagascar beans, however, I did have higher expectations than that which was received. Most of the seeds had adhered to the packaging rendering them unusable. I have ordered from Vanilla Products before with satisfactory results and perhaps this was merely a quality control issue. I contacted Amazon regarding the quality and their customer service department met my needs.

Do not buy these beans if you think you are ...
Do not buy these beans if you think you are actually paying $1.60 per bean (this would indicate you are getting TEN beans ($15.99/$1.60=10)). I selected this product over others sold on Amazon because, per bean, they were less expensive. I received the beans today and only received FIVE, not TEN as advertised. This is false advertising, is misleading, and is illegal. Four beans were 4 inches and one bean was 6 inches, another way the customer is mislead.

Nasty, stinking, poorly processed, garbage grade vanilla beans.
These beans have an unpleasant fermented fruit smell mixed with a chemically/plasticy odor. These are the poorest quality vanilla beans I have ever purchased and I will never buy from this company again! There is a thick, gummy deposit on the inside of their bag, as if they were packaged wet. These do not smell remotely like vanilla, I have purchased good vanilla beans through Amazon in the past from other companies. I had a use in mind for these but they are too lacking in quality, so I am unhappy and disappointed to be inconvenienced.

Need 3 packs to make 8oz of extract
Purchased this to make my own vanilla extract. The beans net weight came out to 0.3oz, so used 5oz of 70 proof Smirnoff vanilla infused vodka to fill a small decorative bottle (about twice as much vodka as instructed). Instructions suggest readiness in 1 month, but because of the double amount of vodka used, am waiting 2 months. So far so good; at 8 weeks it tastes nearly done, only a little alcohol-ish. Never experienced plastic flavor at all. Only criticism is there's no information on the packaging or internet description about the net weight of the beans in the package.

The product itself is good. The advertisement is very misleading
The product itself is good. The advertisement is very misleading. The unit cost was supposed to be $1.49 each. The cost was $14.99. This led me to believe that I should be getting 10 vanilla beans. In reality, there were only 5 in the package. I was rather disappointed.

Very Fresh & Soft... Good Quality Beans
I really like the fresh-seal wrapping on the beans. It keeps the beans exceptionally fresh and soft. I normally repackage the vanilla beans that I buy in a special vanilla bean jar to keep them fresh, but with this packaging, they have done such a good job of fresh–pack sealing them that I leave them unopened until I absolutely have to use one of the beans. I really recommend using this brand for the packaging alone... and the beans are super quality too, of course.

Make Your Own
To mitigate the outrageous cost of alcohol free vanilla at the health food stores, crack open the vanilla beans and let them cure in glycerin for a few months. The outcome is better than store bought. Better to use stevia, monk fruit, vanilla or similar to replace white sugar that will eventually create a bad case of systemic candidiasis. If you don't want premature aging and disease, make the switch from high glycemic sugars to benign analogs. greenrita.com

This plus vodka = home made vanilla extract
These seem like high quality bean pods. Moist and a vibrant vanilla scent! Almost immediately the vodka started to turn colors. I love these and bought a second batch. I will buy a third batch to make some creme brûlée. Very nice quality and price.
