Groundbreaking for its time.
Nice packaging and Great production. The Making of part was new to me, and made it all the more enjoyable. I shared it with a younger friend who is new to Duran, and he LOVES it.

Purely for die-hards
I absolutely ADORE this band but even I found it quite hard to sit through. As others have commented, it is very dated, but I suppose it was a cool concept for it's time. The only part I really liked was "the making of Arena" portion of the DVD, and even then, I was still fast-forwarding through to see the parts where band members were interviewed. I think that is it's only saving grace. There were definitely some "Spinal Tap" moments, particularly when Nick was talking about how he constructed his own costume for the Wild Boys video, that really cracked me up. Otherwise, the acutal Arena video/concert portion was a total drag. I would have just preferred to see the concert itself without the alien snippet interruptions. It is definitely entertaining to see how young the bandmembers looked back then when they do the behind-the-scenes interviews. Like I said, this is purely for die-hard Duranies.

Fantastic
I'M SO HAPPY THAT I COULD PURCHASE THIS MOVIE! Only a true Duranie could possibly understand. Went to one of their concerts as a teen and a lot of the footage is taken from the '86 tour. Saw the film as a teen. Watching it took me back 20+ years...ok more like almost 30.

Flashback to the 80s
A must watch for any DD fan. The only thing that would make it better would be if it were offered in BluRay or HD. Very dated in low def.

This one is for serious Durannies only. The footage ...
This one is for serious Durannies only. The footage of them performing live is the same as was used in "Sing Blue Silver" which was MUCH more enjoyable. I get the overall idea they were shooting for, I just think they missed the mark a bit on this one.

Duran Duran memory fest
Love the DVD as much as the video I used to have in the old days. Arena is an interesting tale for diehard Durannies.

Worth it for the 'Making Of'
As pop films go, this is so bad it makes 'Spiceworld' look like 'Gandhi'. As per a previous review, the songs are ruined by the ridiculous incerpts re the screaming fans and a pointless Milo O'Shea. Avoid the film but get 'The Making Of' - the latter has some great archive interview footage of Nick, Simon, Andy, and Roger (but curiously not of John). Watching the actual 'Arena' film, you'd think the band only consisted of Simon, Andy and John - that Nick and Roger are no more than session musicians. Watching this film it's obvious that Duran Duran must have their own hole in the Ozone layer, named after them .....

Arena
Blast from the past, I have tried to get this for a couple of years now, but it was well out of my price range for a DVD, but finally on Amazon got a good deal on it, and it didn't disappoint, I still love it, and one of the really good DVDs put together by a band. If you love Duran Duran, you will love this xxx
