Great for programming picaxe controller.
These worked perfectly! Used them to program a picaxe chip with sop8 package! Tiny controller.

A very handy tool for programming serial EEPROMs.
These handy little adapters should be in the toolbox of most electronics geeks. The 8 pin adapter is especially useful for programming serial EEPROMs, which is what I imagine most people will use this for. At first I was thinking, it would have been nice if they had included a 14 pin adapter too, then about 10 seconds later it hit me, you can use a 14 pin IC in the 16 pin socket. The 16 pin adapter is handy for testing/programming ICs, before soldering to your PCB.

Perfect for prototyping and programming small SOP parts
I got this because I'm starting to work with SMD parts; just doing through-hole isn't really feasible anymore - a lot of really good, tiny uCs just aren't available in DIP. There's also a PCB I want to assemble that needs a preprogrammed SOP8 EEPROM, which I just wasn't equipped to handle. These converters are perfect; the picture shows it holding a STM32G0, which is a SOIC8 part. It was easy to load, the pins are all nicely broken out on my breadboard, and all the connections are good. Perfect for my use case.

Loose piece fell out when I dumped the package into my hand.
Everything else was fine except when I went to empty out the package in my hand a little loose piece came out with the two items that I ordered so I don't know if one of them is broken or not. Haven't used either SOP-DIP, yet.
