Absolutely great. Love these shop pencils. Has it's own built-in sharpener and three colors of lead (standard, yellow and red) Wish I had purchased years ago. Keeps a nice clear line for cutting. These pencils are the best I've used. Work well and the colored ones are a great addition when working on certain materials. They show up well on darker surfaces. The built in pencil sharpener is great when needing a fine line. I will definitely be buying again. No more breaking the led with my dull knife.

If you use carpenter pencils often, I highly recommend this product. The set comes with 2 pencils (one black and one red) filled with lead, plus two dozen refill leads (12 black, 6 red and 6 yellow). It works just like a click-top mechanical pencil, and it’s super-easy to retract the lead, so you can keep it clipped in your shirt pocket without getting lead all over your clothes.The built-in sharpener is a game-changer, although it took me a few minutes to realize that the sharpeners are recessed quite far into the pencil caps; you need to expose a good amount of lead to get it to reach the sharpener (unless you unscrew the sharpener from the cap and use it separately, but that seems like an unnecessary waste of time). Sharpening was easy once I figured it out, and it beats the heck out of shaving down traditional carpenter pencils with a knife or carrying (and risk losing) a specialized sharpener.The lead feels quite sturdy. It’s not a strong as a traditional carpenter pencil, but it holds up very well for all but the most heavy-duty applications.The kit also comes with a good-quality plastic carrying case, which is a nice bonus. The pencils and refills have a tidy place to live when they’re not in use, and the see-through case means you won’t confuse the pencils with drill bits or anything else in similar-sized cases.5 stars.
