Can you free-type on this, or only do the 5 activities? I have a non speaking child and I wondered if he could type on it and communicate in that way.

One of the game is definitely just typing: it says, you type. But I woudn't advise to buy for full proce as it has limited amount of words and it is American accent, my daughter cannot understand half of whats said . It is a good idea but execution is terrible
