IF YOU LIKE DEAD SPACE & RESIDENT EVIL THIS IS NOT AS GOOD
I AM WRITING 2 REVIEWS. SCROLL DOWN FOR GAMER REVIEW IF YOUVE BEEN PLAYING A WHILEIVE 100% COMPLETED ALL ACHIEVEMENTS.I am very annoyed since the last achievement for completing on hardest difficulty was glitched. The game crashes in 5th chapter incessantly in the same spotThe manual save adds no value and is pointless. All it does is to keep the last save there manually. The combat system is garbage and the whole game can be completed by just holding left and right in advance on LS. No timing is actually needed.I sit here after the 3rd playthrough and the worst thing - cannot skip cutscenes. Even long ones.NON GAMER REVIEW: I will try to not make so many spoilers so for those that want to know what is this about and why should I buy this, this is a survival horror game set on a moon of Jupiter in a prison colony. A freelancer transporting cargo is boarded mid space flight and things go wrong when the officer simply arrests all survivors and turns them into inmates without trial. A device is forcefully fitted to the back of your neck and before you’re fully conscious and aware, you’re in a prison in an Orange jump suit with alarms going off everywhere and the place going to hell. The best thing about this game is the graphics and also the atmosphere combined with graphics. The lighting is EXTREMELY well used for effect and the sound effects are right on for having jump scares especially with a pair of Turtle Beach or Astros for complete immersion. The facial expressions and visuals here are just like watching a movie. You’ll have a great time and the combat isn’t tough to master here. Annoying at first but ok after about 15mins into it. You’ll be swearing out loud maybe due to timing needed for dodging attacks since you can’t ALWAYS use a gun here and there isn’t a LOT of ammo in the game just like Resident Evil. This compares well to Resident Evil but has elements of Dead Space including stomping on enemies post death to get pick ups and also being out anywhere in space. These guys are not from the same pedigree but it’s worth supporting a company like this that has made the effort to come into the market. It’s scary. It’s enjoyable. Replayable for a few times.FOR GAMERS: I have been playing games for 30 years now. Wow. Doom in 1992. How I miss that feeling as a kid being scared of pixels. I played Dead Space when it came out and remember stepping out of the Ishimura to be stuck in that space station to realise it was hell. Playing in the darkness in more darkness in game. Sucked. But as a teen that was awesome to me. This has a similar feel but not as ominous. The annoying things about this game are the lack of interactions available and about 5 mins into it, as an Xbox guy, you realise this is more of a PlayStation title. Less interactive and a linear campaign that acts like it is not on the face of it. It wants you to do only what you can and it is nigh on impossible to get lost. This feels very habitrail but early on, it’s actually got a better immersion value for story since the acting is actually not bad at all and the guy helping you remotely like we are used to (guardian Angel character on the comms), is british who talks like a Brit guy and calls us bruv. So you feel greatful to finally meet the guy and I felt it. As if I was there. So I have to hold my hands up to Krafton who also published PUBG. And then mostly to the developer STRIKING DISTANCE STUDIOS that is led by ex Dead Space. I wonder if any suits came in the background of this for breaches of anything but ah well. I miss Dead space and dead space is coming out again remastered. I hope it’ll be good but back to Callisto.Fire doesn’t burn you. Hmmm… it feels plastic on some parts but the 3D printing of weapons and upgrade machine looks cool. The sweat on faces and hallway feels aren’t bad. I’m used to Outlast, all Resi, DS 1,2,3 and so on. This doesn’t have a soundtrack that sticks like the start of DS3 Cry of the Ancients. It’s not as striking. I wish it was and I hoped for the best. But for what this is and for what is needed for the future; I believe in this company and they better not let us down as gamers and open up the environment so that cups can be destroyed, marks on walls and more details since the UNREAL engine is used. The story is decent and the character detail is nice. But it is a lesser version of Dead Space 1 but with more modernity to it.Kids could play this and of course no game is rated for them but we play things anyway. Makes us tougher etc. this game should be priced £39.99. That’s fair. And of course it will be on sale. The day one benefits are just a suit skin. The difficulty on max security just changes your health and their resistance. That’s it. I had a lot of fun and so will you.

Excellent game, just not perfect
I should probably start by saying I have never played Dead Space fully (I started - and loved - it recently on Gamepass, but when I saw it was being remastered decided to wait for that)This game certainly seems to share a fair bit of DNA with its cousin, but is definitely a different game. There’s more of a focus on hand-to-hand than I experienced in Dead Space, which definitely adds to the claustrophobic atmosphere the game delivers in abundance. There is some ballistic weaponry but ammo supplies are severely limited, which ratchets up the tension further. As others have mentioned, the dodging mechanic is fairly (possibly overly) simplistic, and when mastered does make one-on-one fights a lot simpler. However taking on multiple enemies is still challenging and boss battles are still tricky, giving a real sense of satisfaction when you make it to the other side.Auto save points are far enough apart to make it feel like an accomplishment to spot the next auto save icon. The graphics are, quite simply, incredible - easily the best I have ever played (caveat being that I am exclusively a console player). The level of detail is extraordinary, and the use of lighting - particularly since the Series X patch to fix Ray Tracing - is mind blowing; it genuinely adds to the atmosphere rather than just making it look impressive. These graphics really allow you to see the actors portraying the characters in a way I’ve not seen outside of cut scenes, further keeping you immersed.I found the story interesting and engaging, with excellent acting throughout. With regards to criticisms, most bosses are the same sort of opponent, à la Arkham Asylum, which is a little lazy. With the mutations aspect of the game, they had scope to change the enemy type of bosses, rather than just the environment you face them in.The dodging mechanic having more of a timing aspect would keep fights more challenging, and the game itself is a little on the short side (though there’s the inevitable DLC expansions to come - though it would be nice if more games made their DLC free as Titanfall did…). Some game modes will be free on Feb 7, but the bulk of it will cost extra. Some auto save points are annoyingly placed, like just before the ammo/weapon machine, meaning death will make you have to slowly repurchase/craft the things you previously did, and manual saves aren’t automatically loaded even if you them create one after the purchase process.Overall I’d recommend the game - the gameplay is enjoyable, with enough challenge to keep things from getting stale. The graphics are outstanding, and the atmosphere remains tense and unnerving throughout. Despite the niggles, I thoroughly enjoyed the hours I spent playing, and was left wanting more when I reached the end - I expect I will be purchasing the DLC when it is released

Solid Game
I completed the game a few weeks ago and had a blast doing it.A few things to note before buying. This is NOT a scary game like dead space or evil within, it is more like Dead Space 3 (less on the atmosphere).Combat is mele focused in the early stages of the game and it is a new type of combat system (I loved it but it is divisive).Graphics are incredible! It plays as if you were there for example if an enemy is behind you and you are holding dodge it won't doge as u cannot see them! You can only dodge an enemy if u can see them so try to be aware of your surroundings. All in all the game is very simple and effective in what it is trying to do and it looks great doing it.It took me around 12hours to complete on the normal difficulty if I recall correctly.

Ended up returning.
Hands down I expected it to be like dead space but wasn’t too my liking. Focuses more on the melee side of things. The dodging is where it lost me. I tried to get to grips with the dodge system but wasn’t for me. There was accessibility option to dodge automatically which I put on for a bit but took the fun away.

Great game
It's different and a fresh take on survival horror. Once you fully understand the dodging mechanics, this game is a blast

Fun game
Has fun playing this but it’s quite a short game for the price. I played it for 3 days on and off and completed it. Was hoping for longer but still a fun game with lots of jump scares.
