I really don't know what else to say about this book except that it was exactly what I was looking for. All my life I've been a social outcast, always hovering around the edges of the crowd without ever quite fitting in. I've told myself for pretty much forever that it was by choice, and I don't think that's entirely untrue. A lot of it HAS been by choice. But that has never meant I didn't want to be likable, or capable of making friends and keeping them. My struggles in this area have really only been instilled on a deeper level because my husband is the kind of guy that everyone instantly likes.And I mean instantly!!!He got it from his dad, who is capable of walking into an elevator with a random group of people, and hop off 5 floors later, making chatty comments through the closing doors about how he's sure that ugly business split they're going through will work out fine. People trust my husband. People love my husband. And so it's always been easier to just continue standing off to the side in the shadows.I really do believe there is something for everyone in this book. Every person that is struggling in some capacity with social interactions, and being likable. The part that helped me the most in this book was that it's all based on science. It's not really even social skill. It's the ability to understand a scientific concept, and put it into practice.If you're looking for help socially, and want to understand the science behind being likable, get this book! It helped me, and I really think it can help you!!!

An interesting selection of physology studies , presented in a compact format. A.number of the ideas are common sense and not very surprising however some ideas are interesting and are not apparent unless you take the time to reflect. This is quite a short book however it's worth a read and is applicable to all of us. I liked that references were used to back up the studies however I think some topics could be backed up / explained more clearly with more examples rather than a summary of the theory or study.s rather than a summary of the theory or study

See; first of all, this book lost a whole star because I had the whispersinc to voice version. The narrator was heinous. I finished the book and I'm not sure if it was a robot or a human. It sounded wrong, like sintetized voice failing spectacularly in imprint emotions in sentences. Sounded like an agonizing dying metal bird.On the other hand, the content is better than I expected. Quite robust in scientific references and straight to the point. Felt a couple chapters were a bit silly; should be better explored or edited out (eg; leadership chapter). But overall, it was nice and informative.

This book provides useful information Which is presented in an interesting manner. It has summary notes at the end of each chapter and at the end of the book. This is a good book for anyone who would like to be a better friend to those you do know and may come to know . The ideas presented can help you think more about the other person and less about yourself.

I struggled between 3 & 4 stars, so I gave Mr. King the benefit of the doubt. This is easy to read (took me a day) & understand. I like that he gets right to the point & sums up each chapter. Quite a bit of information is common sense, which the author does point out. If you're already pretty good at making friends, you might not get much out of it. That being said, there are a few interesting tidbits.

I mostly read fiction and biographies... but my amazon app gave me a random notification, and I obey the 'Zon. Ended up being a great book, and I finished it in one super long sitting.Maybe some of it is common sense, but I also believe that EVERYTHING is common sense when you explain it and understand it - it becomes so believable and natural. It's a good thing, folks. Now excuse me while I trip in front of someone I want to impress...

Excellent introduction to the topic of likability, what some people might call charisma, and what I call basically what I need to be good at my job. I'm in business development which these days is basically code for sales and schmoozing. I'm decent at it but I'm always looking for an edge to be like the "naturals" i see in my company. It turns out they do many of what I have read about in the book, such as emphasizing similarity and acting warmly and positively. There's obviously a lot more but I'm not done with the book yet! I can see how these contribute to real likability, because I can see them in people every day!

This was a quick read, and while not deep, was clear and easy to understand. The proof will be in the pudding. Will I be better liked?

Haven’t read yet but skimmed a few pages and looks like a good read

This looked liked the most over rated book to me and a sheer wastage of money hence i returned it nothing in this book that we have not been known to

I started reading this book out of curiosity as tend to be attrcted to psychology research books which this one has.Apart from that the book is well structured so it is eady to follow. The fact that comes with research that backs up the information is even better.I have started using one method already about acting like a friend to people I wanted to get closser together yet jist met and it definitely has been working for me.Overall it is a good read and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

VERY INSTRUCTIVE

There's lots of interesting material in the book. Generally, for a western audience the advice would work well in most situations.
