I don't actually own this book. I only looked at it in the bookstore. So, you may want to take my advice with a grain of salt.However, this is exactly the book that I was trying to find seven years ago when I rented and wanted to invoke a bit of style into my living space. I was even tempted to buy it now that I own my second house. The only thing that discouraged me from doing so was the beginning section, which focuses on the basics of renting--i.e. selecting an apartment.However, the meat of the book that talks about decorating seems to be excellent. It has inexpensive and temporary decorating ideas. It is perfect if you want to spruce up your space without making permanent and expensive changes.I can't wait for Paige Gilchrist to come out with a book for homeowners living on a pathetic budget!

More of a DIY book than the helpful hints book that I was looking for.This is a book targeted at those who are moving out of the family home for the first time with a lot of very basic guidance on a variety of things from what to watch out for when leasing to what to buy for the kitchen. Very much a book for for those who like to create things themselves with an emphasis on decorating ideas for the student apartment.It has a lot of photographs and is very clearly laid out for the beginner though who is quite this much of a beginner I`m not really sure!

This is a wonderful book with a little bit of everything for apartment dwellers! Great how-to & decorating ideas no matter how many apartments you've had.

Some other reviewers were complaining that the book was too basic but as a college student who has spent my life living with my parents or in dorms I found the information invaluable. In between pages of cute decorating ideas it has useful information like what questions to ask about the apartment or what signs to look for of a bad apartment. This book has made me so much more excited about my first place.

Tons of ideas. Tons of tips. Tons of pictures. Just a great overall book. Would deff reccomend this book to someone moving.
