Perfect for fast, large scale vacuuming of hard floors of all types.
As in other comments, I have noticed that the supplied hose is tiny comparatively to the opening for the hose - so I attached my existing hose connection with a wand from corded backpack vacuum that I have been using previously.Suction of the battery powered vacuum is now excellent, it handles my demands well. I bought 4 5 amp batteries and a dual charger as well, so this vacuum can work 24/7 if I need to. Just so you can compare, not having a cord that restricts your motions - that advantage about triples your speed. You do not have to spend time to plug the vacuum, unplug it, as well as guiding the cord to make sure it does not get tangled.I strongly recommend getting this vacuum, it is very lightweight if comparing it to corded backpack vacs, not even talking about battery powered. Other "usual" vacuum brands that supply backpack vacs maybe have a little better suction (which I can't quite recall if it was better then Makita or about the same) - used it for about a week in another facility. But they sure loose out on battery time - I think maximum that I ever used was 40 minutes. And also weight - by the time you spent an hour with those heavy vacs on your back, you sure do not want to continue doing the same. This Makita vacuum, on the other hand - you do not really feel it as a burden.

AWSOME! What more can i say!!
LOVE IT! 1. Major YES! - NO CORDS! 2. Very light weight and comfortable to wear and very adjustable. 3. Long battery life and charges 2 batteries in about 45 minutes - wish the charger was a bit more convenient in size. i bought 2 extra batteries 4. Floor tool is the best - wish it was wider to clean more space at once. 5. extension hose is wearing out already so bought some regular vac wands but have to make them fit since adapter on flex hose is made just for this product :( 6. Bags could fit a little better - a little OVER-SIZED for compartment need to adjust bag to get it full. Overall saves me time since i don't have to search for a socket. By the way i use this for residential cleaning so it gets a lot of use.

I thought this would be awesome by the video's and spec's which suggest the cleaning power would be awesome and it is just ok for bare floors not enough power to turn a turbo brush for carpet. The good it is comfortable to wear runs a long time on 5ah batteries. Fit and finish feels very quality built, does not feel like it will break. I have not been able to find bags for this as of yet but I would imagine I will find them. In the manual there is an optional reusable dust bag but even on the Makita web site can not find it for purchase. I ordered two of these as I have lots of houses I take care of and I kept one and returned the second. I am going to play around with modifying the one I kept as there seems to be some design flaws for max performance of what appears to be a sturdy machine. When you take the hose off for instance the opening increases in size to around 2.5" and the suction and amount of air seems to greatly increase. So It might work a lot better with a larger stick and hose. Also the exhaust which is very nicely placed seems to be very encumbered. I will revisit this review after I own it for more than a week as this is my initial impression.

For Sheetrock sanding get a shop vac..
I purchased this vaccum along with a cordless Sheetrock cut out saw (that tool works awesome). I've been a makita user for years and years, and I've never been disappointed until now. I took it to my job site and blew out my makita orbital sander, hooked it up to the backpack vaccum and was actually very excited at the time, like omg this vacuum is going to make my Sheetrock sanding sooooo much easier! The backpack vacuum worked about ok for about the first six minutes, I was using 80 grit paper, first sanding after new mud. Then I noticed suction getting less and less. I kept working, about minute nine or ten, I noticed a huge cloud of dust around me. I opened up the bag compartment and it barely had any dust in it, about 10 percent full. So I retired the new vacuum and went back to my shop vac with very long hose and masking tape to hold it on the very small exhaust port on the makita orbital. I had high hopes and expectations and this backpack vaccum failed to deliver. It's woefully underpowered.. I gave two stars mostly because it fits very well with the harness and two buckles, wired remote with clip, very handy, long enough hose to attach to whatever tool your using, and it looks sexy.

This is a wonderful vacuum! It is lightweight and has great suction
Wow! This is a wonderful vacuum! It is lightweight and has great suction. I did not have issues emptying the bag after use as some other reviews were concerned with...I love that it is brushless because we have three dogs and we no longer have to worry about hair caught in bristles! Great job, Makita!!
