Great upgrade for my Dad's old light.
I have a cool, old emergency/camping/flashlight from my father. No clue who makes it, only markings on it are "Pillsbury" (as in the Doughboy). It has a long flourescent bulb on the bottom, two alternating red and yellow lights on top (with siren, if needed) and a flashlight at one end. It is powered by eight "D" cells. It worked fine, I wanted to update it because it's kinda a novelty item (and it was given to me by my Dad...). I installed one of the these LED bulbs (P13.5S 4-12V) and it works great. I think I got lucky with the reflector, I get a good beam, not the "doughnut" ring that some folks experience, on some flashlights. It's way brighter than my incandescent bulb, but it's not as bright as some of my factory LED flashlights (but those aren't as versitile). After receiving the first bulb, I ordered two more (they are the same type) for the flashing bulbs (those are under red and yellow lenses). I did not have any success with those, when I put them in, they would not light up at all (no flash, nada). One mixed with a incandescent would light, but not flash (the incandescent bulb would). I checked the bulbs in the flashlight part, both worked fine. Anyway, maybe there's too many things going on in there (two bulbs, alternating, not compatible with the flasher) for the LED to deal with. I put the original incandescent bulbs back in there for the flashers (If I had not waited so long to try them, I probably would have returned the second two)...oh well.Since it works the bulb for the flashlight part, it gets five stars from me.If this review was helpful, please click 'Helpful' below (lets me know that I'm not wasting my time, by doing these). Thank you!

This bulb works great!
I am a police officer and have an old 4 D cell Maglite that I have had for 25-30 years. When I first got it, that was my "go to" flashlight. Then I found the rechargeable Maglite and switched to it because it was much brighter. Then I was issued a series of Streamlights (all of which are pretty good. In short, I have not used the old one for about 20 years. I came across it a few days ago and decided to check it out as a spare. Once I cleaned out the old batteries and put in new ones, the bulb blew. Checking on Amazon, I say and decided to try this one. Glad I did. There are brighter lights out there but they cost a heck of a lot more than this bulb. I now use this huge light when I walk my dog at night and it is much, much brighter than the old incandescent bulb that came with this light. It is probably right up there with the rechargeable MagLites. If you want to improve your old Maglite, I do not believe you can do better than this bulb. Highly recommend it.

BRIGHT, and so much cheaper than buying a new flashlight
I bought one of these for an old flashlight I had, which I didn't want to retire for sentimental reasons. (The light belonged to a family member.) I popped this direct replacement in, and suddenly that old light performed light a modern flashlight. I liked the results so well, I dug out another old light, and put a replacement in that one as well. New life for the family "heirloom", and money saved, with less waste thanks to being able to upcycle the second flashlight. Thanks!

Very bright
The LED light is a major upgrade over the incandescent bulb that it replaces. Be aware that it has a blue tint to the light. Thumbs up. I will buy again.

New life to my old flashlight
This fit perfectly in my old flashlight with a burned out incandescent bulb, and it works FAR better than the original bulb. Very happy with this purchase and the cheap upgrade to my light.LED bulbs are very particular to battery polarity, so try swapping battery directions if yours does not work right away.

Defective
The bulb was bright and seemed fine at first, but after several minutes of continuous use (once it had gotten a little warm), it started flashing off and on again every few seconds. This could be a sign that the system within the LED bulb that regulates the voltage is low quality and fails to provide steady electrical tension once warm. I returned the bulb for a refund.

Brighter light, MUCH longer battery life
Much better battery life and brighter than incandescent bulbs.💡

Bright.
Very bright little lamp. If you are replacing an incandescent bulb, you need to pay attention to the polarity of the batteries. In my flashlight, I had to reverse the batteries from the original orientation.
