I am a newbie to Fireworks and I needed something to give me the basics on how to go about working it. This book helped me a lot to understand more so I can work with it. And with the buttons being similar to the other design programs I worked with, well, that was a plus!

This book, like so many others for Adobe software, is often ridiculously vague and skips a lot of steps required to complete lessons. I thought these were supposed to be for teaching someone new to the software how to use it. Luckily I'm knowledgeable enough to figure out the parts they left out. Honestly, the internet forum sites for learning Adobe anything are easier to follow and understand. Amazon had great shipping and got my order to me on time, though.

Good guide through fireworks. Each lesson is easy and step by step. The book explains the value of Fireworks (say vs photoshop) I love books on Kindle. The only problem I've found is the book does not cover animation.

The book was well written and has a lot of great information but it did not answer the specific questions I had that spurred me to buy the book.

After working through the entire book, I guess I get what fireworks does. You can build quick mockup websites for clients and then code it later or you can make quick banner ads and do the animation someplace else.. But it feels like once you've done the lessons you forget a lot of what you did. Maybe it's me.

Just starting into the second lesson - but I love it!Did Classroom in a Book for another Adobe product, and felt I really learned it.Tried Learn by Video for a different one and it was difficult to keep up.So - Classroom in a Book (plus paying for a college course & having real assignments) works for me.

Not for someone experienced in "any" Adobe CS2 and above users. Far too much general information and looks recycled from earlier editions. Lots of slicing and optimization chapters that are not state of web design. Very little on CS6 design features. Three stars because it is not a bad book, just not in depth enough for my needs.

I find this volume very helpful, it also would be a good starting point for a beginner, with its disc based lessons guiding the user through to most areas of need starting from the basic 'Getting to know the workspace' through Pages, States, Layer panels and Fundamental workflow tools, then Working with Bitmaps following through to Vector Graphics all from the basics through to a finished article it also includes tips on using tools such as the Pen tool and creating Icons, and there is a chapter on Masking which is very useful.It continues through Styles Panels, Using symbols, optimising for web and mobile, prototyping basics, and finishing through High-Fidelity Prototyping and improving your workflow.This instructional book is best read through whilst completing the lessons for a beginner, but is also useful to jog the memory of the more experienced user, and perhaps an aid to upgrading from a previous incarnation of Fireworks.There is also a Bonus supplemental chapter located on the disc.Little effort is required to read since the layout is well thought out.All in all, well worth the cost,

Although it took a while to arrive, when it did it was very easy to follow.

Upgraded to CS6 a few months ago and this has helped me to start using the software to its full potential

Very good all round introduction to the program. It is not a bible, nor is it a wow book, but you will certainly get to know your way around the program.
