Unfortunately it slips (see nuts on side) causing jams of corn. We think we burned out the motor after <30 days use. Trying to figure out what to do now.

I love it works great for my deer feeder

Motors spinning backwards, one rusted/seized
IMHO, better than the toss it out versions. At least for deer feeding purposes.Update Nov. 11, 2017: The feeder motor on the 2 Directional Auto Feeders that I purchased in October both spin backwards so the feed doesn't come out of the 'squirrel cage' style housing. The same model that I purchased several months spins the proper direction. The backwards spin is causing cracked corn dust to clog and jam the spinner plate. I called Boss Buck about this issue on October 21st and was told it's designed that way. Now that I see the 2 newer units are jamming, I don't believe that story and am very disappointed with Boss Buck. Cut and switched the red/black wires so the units spin properly.Update March 2018: One unit has rusted below the spinner plate seizing the motor. I had used silicone on all 3 units to protect them from rain damage, but one has failed due to poor design. Replaced that one with the original 3-tube gravity feed head. No more money to Boss Buck.

Great feeder in General, except for the Directional Feeder Kit
Corn dust collects below spinning feeder portion, on top of battery box. Then either dew or rain gets in, creates sludge that then builds up and stops your feeder from spinning. Plus it stinks and rusts your unit. Customer service tells you to check every few days. I buy something of this magnitude so I can check it only to fill every month or so. Not to make sure my $600 feeder is actually working. Go with the 360 Conversion kit.

Corrosion
Lasted 3 seasons and done. This motor unit has been outdoors for a combined total of 12 months. The first season it worked great. Towards the end of the 2nd season the motor started locking up. The 3rd season the motor worked intermittently and now is locked up. The issue is the shroud collects water. Water mixing with residual corn in the duct and corrosion occurs. I really prefer the directional vs multi directional but not for $150 and lasting 12 months. And yes, this was only used with whole corn.
