Mel Bay's 101 Easy Fingerstyle Guitar Solos Paperback – November 21, 2006

This is a great book for someone trying to learn how to do fingerstyle guitar. There are some very easy arrangements and some quite hard ones. The CD helps you understand hwo the songs should sound. A lot of the tunes are classic songs and they sound pretty good in this simple format. You get 101 songs, which is a lot of good practice material.The only way it could have been improved is if they had provided a guide to difficulty. However, it is pretty easy to see which ones are hard and which are easy by looking at the scores.

Great little book to practice fingerpicking techniques! Many of the songs are recognizable and if not a CD is included! I burned the whole CD to my ipod and made it super easy to listen along and practice. I would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting fun exercises to practice their fingerstyle. Many of the songs are not super easy for beginners and poses enough of a challenge to keep anyone with a little skill interested.

I didn't recognize a lot of the songs but played the songs because they were interesting fingerpicking exercises in of itself. I own a lot of the fingerpicking books by Hal Leonard which seem to be more melodic based but I feel that these songs are songs like the Cruel war that one could sing-a-long to.

Yes, I'm really enjoying this book for its tune collection, ease of playing, spiral (lay-flat) binding,standard notation and chords - though there are no lyrics. You don't need lyrics when playing fingerstyle, so that's no problem. CD lets you hear the tune whether or not you've heard it before.In addition to this book, I HIGHLY recommend you YouTube Eltjo Haselhoff's review of his instructional DVD How to Play Fingerstyle Guitar, which is terrific. I obtained my copy from [email protected] see his yearly "Christmas Greetings" on YouTube - this man is brilliant (in fact, he has a Ph.D in Physics).

Great selection of easy songs perfect for a novice fingerpicker. Includes both notes and tab and fingering numbers where helpful. Can't beat the selection and the included CD is a great learning tool.

the solo's are short and simple. just at the right level for the advaned beginner. Also good for an intermediate level player ,just wanting to play something fun. It will not push you to a higher level of play but you will feel better after playing these songs. great for camp fire , or playing on your porch at night.

This is simple fingerstyle guitar mostly old country type music simple enough has tabs good value put it in your collection

I love this book. Received all my products for Amazon faster than expected. This book is fun because the tunes are familiar and you can chose songs by your ability to play. You don't need to go page by page. Jump around the book!

101 easy fingerstyle, fingerpicking solos. Mostly one page exercises in simple fingerpicking. Could be used to develop classical or steel strung technique. I use this book to load up students with plenty of practice material that's pretty easy to do. They are not performance pieces - but all playable and don't include any horrors like Twinkle Twinkle or Jingle Bells. Good value practice toll, is my sound-bite on this book. Quite a bargain. I'm still learning fingerstyle so while for others this might be a walk in the park it is not so for me, but I am getting the hang of it and can't wait to show off at the first campfire I go to. great music
