Key pad protector is not clear...foggy texture. Hard shell case...not a tight fit but very close with adjusting. Clear plastic looks like it will mark or scratch easily.

This cover fits my 2013 15" MacBook Pro well, and I have not had any cracks or problems, unlike other reviewers. It looks very nice and protects my laptop shell. I have the clear one. It came with a keyboard cover which I used on a whim, and lo and behold, my laptop doesn't get dirty now! Go figure. I love this! I can wash it off, and then lay it back on after a quick dry on a dish towel. My laptop has never looked better, or been cleaner. I wish they would sell the keyboard covers separately from this company because I want one for my wireless keyboard. All others have been too thick and clunky compared to this one.

This protective case and keyboard overlay is a nice solution for moderate protection of my 15" MacBook Pro with Retina Display. The case is a perfect fit as is the keyboard overlay. The protector does not obstruct access to ports. I have not dropped or abused my computer. I am not willing to do a damage control test to really "test" this cover. But it certainly protects the outer finish from everyday use and transport (in my leather bag with separate laptop compartment). The rubber pads and cooling grill on the bottom are a plus. And the keyboard layover keeps dust and other moderate contaminants from entering through the key slots. The layover also protects the graphics on the keys. I highly recommend this package and would buy it again. AN UPDATE 4 YEARS LATER: I just purchased this product again for the 3rd time! As I reviewed the first time, this case provides moderate protection. For me, and my road usage, I need to replace it about every 2 years. The outer housing of my MacBook Pro remains as scratchless as the day I bought it. And the keyboard cover, which will eventually wear out from years of typing, keeps dust and grit and possibly small spills from falling onto the keys and into the electronics. The RUBAN case and keyboard cover is cheap insurance for use on the go. The RUBAN is always on my computer. I use it in conjunction with a padded zipper case within a leather computer bag during transport. This system works very well for me.
