Good cube and a great app
The cube is smoother in the hand than most as it has curved edges, the coloured tiles are behind a clear plastic layer. The movement of the cube is very smooth and between the two, it takes a bit of getting used to but it is very nice when you do. It is easy to cut corners when you are tring to complete algorithms quickly. I'm a month or so in and really like it. The charging stand is simple but nice, the cable goes through a little gap and is attached to the stand so that when you place the cube in it and push it back, it is held in place by the charger. I've only charged it a couple of times - but equally, I'm not using it all day, probably only 15 - 20 minutes per day. Overall, the cube is good, but it is the app that makes this such a great all round package and I've not explored all of it yet! There are 5 icons at the bottom of the screen once you have paired with your cube. Starting from left to right, the first is a cup, it represents a leader board of times for the different ways that the cube can be manipulated - many of the times are ridiculously quick, sub 4 seconds! I average just below a minute so I'm a complete amateur by comparison. The second is a boxing glove this represents a series of matches that can be played, some are solo and others connect you with another online player. The third is a cube, in this section you can time yourself solving the cube - the nice feature here is that it starts to time you when you start moving the cube and stops when the cube is solved. There is also a section called solver - this will guide you through the solution from whatever state the cube is in when you start. The fourth is a gaming controller, in this section there is a series of fun games that will support you in becoming a more adept cuber, I haven't played around with this very much yet. The final icon is a graduation cap, this is the academy. It guides you through the steps to solving the cube and is a useful tool. It shows the notations for the basic algorithms to solve the cube in three layers. Using this method with some (quite a lot) of practice you should be able to get to a time below a couple of minutes. You can then sumplement this with guides on YouTube. I did find that you need to regularly reorient when going through the academy. I know that there are other smart cubes on the market, this is the only one that I have so I can't compare them with others - if you have done any research on these you will already know that this one is more expensive than the original Rubik's connect or from Gan. I really like this cube and I've picked things up from the app that have improved my times. If you are prepared to spend the money, the app really makes this a worthwhile package.

Excellent quality cube and software
Whilst considerably more expensive than the Rubik's cube, the quaility of this cube is exceptional and you can defintely see where the money has gone. Its got a really smooth action, and its quite simply the best i've used. The software is pretty good, and it took about an hour train me how to reliably solve it. If you are looking to learn how to do the cube using the beginners method, this is the right product for you.

Super keen to try the GoCube as family of four. Any recommendations? Or tips before setting up. Regarding the view of the product, the GoCute looks chic and luxury. Can’t wait to give it a go. Big ups to the super hero who managed to deliver the Isle of Man within 24 hours and after a difficult online resulted in me having to put a new item (Christmas gift for my twins. Thank you Amazon x

A lovely cube but the smart features of the cube are almost useless.
I was excited to get this. I remember when it first went on the market but was totally unaffordable for me. The cube itself absolutely lovely. It turns/flows brilliantly. However, I am sending it back for a few reasons. I used to be able to do the Rubik's cube realatively fast (but no where close to speed cubing) but I got out of practice and forgot the process. The app is good taking you through the steps of learning. I learnt using a slightly different method but this one seems a lot simpler. The issue is, beyond the basic method there is no more lessons on different algorithms to help you progress to faster speeds. The second issue is that for me, the cube needed almost constant re-alinening and often calibration too, not only was this annoying but even after this, the cube and the app weren't totally matching with the faces/angles between the screen and cube. I may have been able to accept this if I could have progress beyond basics but sadly this is not the case.

I waited 40 years to solve one of these… this one showed me how easy it was!
Almost exactly 40 years ago, I hated Rubik’s Cube, when it was a massive craze and everybody got one. As a child prodigy, it should have come easy to me, but I just couldn’t get my head round solving the little square b*****d!!! Instead, I just used to prise the corners off and rebuild the cube solved, like I bet many of you reading this did… either that or peeling off the stickers and sticking them back on solved! Anyway, I’m a grown up now, in my fifties, with a lot more patience and a keen, inquisitive mind, ready to learn how to solve the cube… seeing that this one had Bluetooth and a tutorial mode, among other whizzy features the plastic cubes of yesteryear lacked, so I invested, determined to once and for all defeat Ernst Rubik’s frustrating colourful invention… This one has lights and magnets and rounded corners, and is designed for speed cubing (yes, it’s apparently a thing!). It feels so much easier to manipulate than the plastic ones of old, so much more functional, and it’s very colourful too. I don’t know how sturdy it is, but it has computer components inside, so I won’t be dropping it if I can help it! It seems to have a decent level of sturdiness, and feels great in your hands. After just a few hours, I have learned how to solve the accursed cube… this new cube is so fast to work with due to the slick materials and magnets inside, and the instructions are so easy to follow, and surprisingly simple too - you just have to learn and apply a couple of algorithms (just a sequence of moves) and follow a method of what to sort in which order, and you’re laughing all the way to matching sides all round! I can shuffle the cube and return it to solved state pretty quickly now too - around 35-40 seconds on average, so it tells me… cos it keeps tracks of your progress and your solving speeds and number of moves so you can see how you’re improving, and compare with your friends should you so wish. I’ve only had it 2 days, how fast will I be after a week? It will tell me, that’s for sure! Given that the top ‘cubers’, as I’ve learned they are called, solve the cubes in just over 3 seconds, I have some improving to do - and improve I will, because now I have this mind beast under control, I am going to exert my force upon it until I’m a sub-10 second guy (at cubing, I hasten to add!). The purchase price seems a little high for a Rubik’s Cube variant, especially when compar€do to the simple plastic ones, but when you see how the smart tech in it works, and that numerous games and creations you can make with it, you come to realise it is very probably a bargain, especially given the excellent discount available currently. So if you’re in your late 40s or 50s and remember when the craze hit first time, here’s your chance to defeat the cube after all those years! Don’t go to your grave regretting you never beat Rubik’s Cube, learn how to in a matter of a couple of hours, and amaze your other middle aged pals who couldn’t do it either. You’ll be the star of the show for at least 3 or 4 minutes 😂😂😂 You tormented me for years, oh Cube, but now I am your Master, so I award you two victorious thumbs up 👍🏼👍🏼 Highly recommended to kids of the 80s, and their kids of today. You can do eeeeet Cube Boy!

This is great
I'm a novice cuber and, having learnt to solve cubes a few years back I decided to pick up a new cube. I saw this and figured it would be good fun. So far, I was right. It's not perfect, but I'm definitely happy with my purchase. The cube connected to the free app with no issues, and after a quick sign up process I was ready to go. I started with the academy as I'd forgotten some of the algorithms needed to solve the cube. The app takes you through each stage of the beginner's method, with videos explaining along the way. However, I did have a couple of issues. During the tutorials I experienced a fair bit of drift with the cube. This was solved by pressing the resync button but was a little annoying. I did have a few electronic devices very close so this may have been partially to blame. I will note that since finishing the tutorials and using the other modes I've not noticed the drift so much, if at all. The tutorials are good, but they only cover the beginner method. I would love to see CFOP tutorials built in to the app in the future, I think this would be an ideal way to learn more advanced techniques. I've been using the Solo and Pro Cuber modes to compete against myself and against people around the world live. I love the fact that as you're competing against someone else you can actually see their cube on screen next to yours so you can see how they're doing. Being able to compete against myself has been great too, and the stats you can access on each solve are very detailed. I particularly like the graph that shows your solve speed over time so you can see how you're improving. There are some mini-games but I haven't really played with them yet. The cube itself feels good with a nice turning action. It's a slightly odd shape with the curved edges but this doesn't affect anything as far as I can tell. Pr-cubers have logged times in the 3 - 4 second area with it so if it's good enough for them it should be fine for us. Overall a good product with a couple of minor issues.

Updated: serious speedcubers should avoid
Update: after about a year, all the statistics functionalities of the app broke. Support recommended I reinstall the app to get back these history features but advised I wouldn't be getting my statistics back. So several thousands of solve times are gone. As you can imagine, this makes the device useless as I wouldn't trust it to track my solve times going forward, only to risk loosing thousands more data points. In short: support said they can't do anything about it. In long: When I asked for a refund on the basis that the app is an integral part of the GoCube smart cube offering, and according to EU Directive 2019/771 (which is part of UK law) electronics need to be guaranteed for 2 years, after almost a month of waiting, I got told that they won't be issuing a refund anyway. Original review: The device has amazing capabilities and I'm quite happy with it. It twists like a proper speedcubing cube does though it would have been even better if the cube didn't have rounded corners as it makes it a bit harder to grip. The app's UI doesn't feel great, it feels like a crossplatform app. I'm impressed with its statistics tracking capabilities, it even tries to detect what solving algorithm I'm using (usually successfully). It's still missing some features and could be made more "native" but I'll keep this review short by not listing every single thing that can be made better. It's software, so can be improved at a later point, which I hope the makers will do.

Best puzzle cube for quickly learning the rubiks cube
We brought this for my 10 year old son who has been asking for a Rubik’s cube for over a year but as none of us know how to solve one we thought it would be a 2 minute toy he would mix up & then after a few attempts give up & discard, so when this popped up while I was looking for a rubiks I done some research & after reading & watching some reviews decided to purchase it. Well it is amazing, worth every penny. Once he had run through the tutorial & got the idea of the moves he started following it easily. He then started challenging people online who were at the same level as him. He played with this for a few hours straight until we asked him to join in a family game. Highly recommend this for beginners & really impressed that as he gets better he can look at his stats and compete with people who are a higher level too. Worth every penny!!!
