Great questions and nice size for grandpas!
I purchased 4 of the "grandparents" books because even after going through all of the reviews, I couldn't decide on which to get. These are for my two young children to give to my parents and my in-laws.The following are the 4 I purchased:Grandparents' Memory Book: Did You Really Walk Five Miles to School?Memories for My GrandchildA Grandparent's Legacy: Your Life Story in Your Own WordsGrandparents JournalWe decided to keep the "Memories for My Grandchild" for both of or Mom's and my husbands grandma. It was between this and "A Grandparent's Legacy: Your Life Story in Your Own Words" which I also liked very well. Both have spiral notebook style rather then regular book style. Ultimately we decided on "Memories for My Grandchild" because I liked the organization better and the pocket in the back for storage is nice. The questions in both were great but, we returned ""A Grandparent's Legacy: Your Life Story in Your Own Words". I liked that it was organized by month. This would be a good method for having grandparents complete it within one year yet, they could complete it differently if they preferred. I was just thinking if you were ever looking for specific info on the person who completed it, you would have to read through the entire book to find as it isn't organized in any other way besides months. And we kept "Grandparents' Memory Book: Did You Really Walk Five Miles to School? " for both of our Dads. The questions in "Grandparents' Memory Book: Did You Really Walk Five Miles to School? " were really both of our favorites, very original and things we wouldn't normally think to ask. It is a very casual, easy going book while still organized nicely into categories. It seemed to fit both of our Dads better. Also, it is a smaller book then the others which I think will be less intimidating for them to complete. Downside, this one doesn't have spirals, it is a regular book."Grandparents Journal" we returned but, it would work well if you have grandparent's where one of the two is more apt then the other to complete it as it has spaces for both to complete on the same pages (I am afraid my dad might fall into that category). We weren't as happy with the questions in this book as the others. The spiral notebook format and pockets in each chapter were great, that was a definate plus for this book.

Unique questions, Easy Format
We purchased 8 different books for each grandparent this year for Christmas in an attempt to find a match in style and generation for each person. (We have great-grandparents in the mix.) As I was reading through the books I tried to keep in mind different family structures for example a divorce/remarriage as well as stylistic preferences. Here is what I found...The Book Itself:-Hardcover (not as easy to write in as the spiral)-Pages are a medium weight with matte finish-Font is large print and a green that is easy to read or white on brown background.-Often these books have a sticker on the back that needs to be removed, this one does notWriting Style/Creativity Level:-This book does not have spaces for photos great for those that are not artistic or well organized!-The format is answer a question style with a small paragraph space-The writing style is unique as it is a compilation of questions asked by many people from age 3 1/2 to 50ish. Although it is broken into sections of related questions it still felt less fluid than some of the other books we purchased and somehow not as deep. It also includes quotes about why grandparents are important.-There are three blank pages in the back for the grandchild to ask their own questions of their grandparentWho this book is for:Can both grandparents it fill out?No, only one author for this journey (Grandparents Journal by Ryland Peter is the only one we found that both parties could fill out in the same book)Divorced/Remarried:Yes, perfect for this situation as the entire focus is on getting to know that grandparent specificallySame Sex Couples:Yes, for the same reason as aboveLevel of Religiousness: Low (There may have been one or two questions but not specific and not any real role in the book)Overall I feel this is a good lighthearted get to know you book that is perfect for those that might be intimidated by one that asked for more in-depth family history. It would also work well for someone that might have had a more difficult childhood.
