are these letters made in 1/2 inch height?

Not to my knowledge! They are at least 9-10” tall. My daughter uses them for night lights in her daughter’s bedrooms.

is there a remote or timer? Or do you need to remove from wall to turn on and off every time?

They each have a remote but it is universal and turns all of them on/off (I have 6 letters and use only one remote) There is a switch in the back, as long as that is on they can be lit with just the remote
