A delightful read with great insights into the rise of spiritual awakening
A great read for anyone interested in spiritual development. A beautiful account of how one man went from a discouraged state of life as a result of being extremely stressed from his participation in the Vietnam war to his great positive change from encountering the great sage Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Along with a beautiful personal account of his many spiritual experiences and insights those of us who like to know about the workings of the early days of the TM movement will find this a delight.Max Lund

Tony sees what the intellect can not fathom.
Throughout every part of his journey, Tony has an impressive way of expressing the richness and detail of indescribable spiritual experiences. Sensitive, heartfelt, humble and sincere, I found his book charming, joyful and engaging. A good read for anyone who is open to gaining more insight into spiritual growth, the guidance of a great guru, and the play of karma in that growth.

A charming chronicle of experience with a realized Being
The book is an eloquent description of the author's spiritual path, replete with first-hand experience of the presence of Maharishi. I attended the six-week prerequisite teacher training course in Amherst, MA, the same summer as Mr. Anthony's course in Humboldt, CA, and can vouch for the powerful darshan Maharishi could bring, whatever his surroundings. Now, fifty-plus years later, this book took me back to that magical time.I do wish the author had been able to see the more subtle beauty of America's heartland in Fairfield, IA, and set aside his disparagement, as he was able to do during his time in India, hence my 4-star review.

A wonderful journey with Tony, meeting and getting to know Maharishi Mahesh Yogi
I really enjoyed this book, a flowing narrative of spiritual discovery in the context of meeting and working with an esteemed saint - in itself a rare and fortuitous event.Tony does a great job of bringing us along with him, easily and intimately, providing colorful glimpses at every turn, and quite a few surprises. One of the most enjoyable memoirs I have had the pleasure to read!

A Firsthand Account of Unfolding of the Dawn of the Age of Enlightenment From Someone Who Lived It
Tony Anthony is a prolific and talented author/artist who has honed his writing over time (Tony's other books are also available on Amazon). This firsthand, extraordinary account of Tony's spiritual journey begins with his chance encounters leading up to learning the Transcendental Meditation technique. The rest of the book continues with increasingly impactful vignettes as the author reconnects with his purpose and gifts as a professional designer. When personally requested by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, founder of the TM and TM-Sidhis program, to join the international organization in Switzerland in that capacity, the reader is treated to the inner workings of the author's role (and skills) in helping to realize the breadth of the founder's vision over a multi-year timeline. The many well-written, graceful, and wending historical accounts provide access to firsthand, personal experiences as the author grows in consciousness and integrates the wisdom of Vedic knowledge, traditions, and higher states of perception -- all in service to the founder's global vision to establish world peace through simple and effortless practice of the TM technique. The autobiographical nature of the book imbues both a universality and magic that speaks directly to seekers of enlightenment in this lifetime. You will not be able to put the book down.

Authentic, soulful and moving
As a long-time practitioner of the Transcendental Meditation technique, I found Tony Anthony's account of his years working closely with Maharishi to be authentic, soulful and moving. He is transparent about his own inner struggles during those years and describes the rare attention that he was given without ego. This book is a must-read for any seeker of wisdom and will open your mind to cosmic possibilities wherever you are on the path to self-realization.

This personal story is told with sincerity, vulnerability, and transparency. Some fascinating moments give us a glimpse into Tony's relationship with TM founder Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, and his evolving experiences, in and out of meditation.Ours was a generation of seekers. If you’re on the spiritual path or curious about it, this book will satisfy. You will spend time in the heart and mind of a seeker turned finder. Tony also describes some pretty cosmic experiences that will inspire. Glad I read it!

Best Book related to TM I have ever read.
Since learning TM three years ago after decades of more intense Buddhist Vipassana practices I have read almost every book out there that is related to TM and Maharishi's teachings. This is by far the best book I have ever read. It provides such a valuable and honest account of his journey with TM. Almost all the other books out there are really just rehashing the same info, over and over so it was truly delightful to come across this book and I have spent many a late night engrossed in it's reading. Thank you so much Tony. This has become one of my jewels and sits on the shelf with David Bucklands "Our Natural Potential:Beyond Personal Development, The 7 Stages of Enlightenment" and LuciaLorn's "The Incredible Reality of You".

speaks from the heart
I have never met Tony Anthony although we have a lot of mutual friends. Lately quite a few people have written books about their experiences working around Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Having worked full time in Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation organization since 1975 myself I have enjoyed reading them. Tony's book is remarkable in his ability to describe his inner vision as naturally and accessibly as I might describe my obvious surface sensory observations of the world as I move through it.I would recommend this book to anyone who is on any sort of spiritual quest. You will not be disappointed. Tony writes very well and manages to create a space for the reader to inhabit that is rich with opportunities to appreciate one's own life as the play and display of divine love. Also, highly recommended for anyone who is dealing with PTSD or is trying to help someone who is dealing with that debilitating trauma. Tony is very open about his pain and emotional chaos that resulted from his combat zone experiences in Viet Nam and how the TM program lifted him out of that terrible space. That was in the 1970s and today's veterans are suffering the same affliction as he did. These day there is ample published research on the specific implementation of TM programs for vets with PTSD. Please read the book and visit the David Lynch Foundation's "Warrior Wellness Program" to get yourself or your loved one involved. I understand we are not supposed to include off site links in reviews but if you go on you tube and search "Veterans Overcome PTS with Transcendental Meditation" you will find it. The David Lynch Foundation provides scholarships for veterans to learn TM.

A joy to read
Finished this morning, and I loved it! Beautifully written and inspiring, I found Tony Anthony's book hard to put down. For anyone interested in Transcendental Meditation, "A Joy-Filled Amazement" is set in the world around Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, especially in the early 1970s. It's a chronicle of profound experiences and rich perceptions, and it deserves a big audience.

An excellent book by a lovely guy.
Having been to several of the places that he writes about, I enjoyed his writing style which brought back memories of 40 years ago.
