Double Packed for Shipping!
I think Gilbralter got the message from its customers that shipping this mailbox just in the box it comes in, is not enough to survive a USPS or UPS trip. I read a lot of reviews that people were receiving their boxes damaged and had to return them. Mine came to me inside the original box packed inside an Amazon box with large bubble wrapping. I'm happy to report it arrived safe and sound. I also read a review (or two) about the door not staying closed. Mine had the same issue, but it's a very simple fix. With a pair of pliers, GENTLY put some downward pressure on the topside of the door. Too much pressure and the door will be difficult to close & open. It only takes a minute or two to get it right! Installation was a breeze. I simply removed the screws from my old mailbox, and reused them to install this one. It took me a total of about 5 minutes to do. This box is sturdy enough to withstand the elements and will last for years. It's a very good value!

Excellent Value
5 Stars is for value - all the features for <$15! The metal is a thin gauge Will bend easily if hit but can otherwise be handled as needed without your hands denting into it. It's more like a coffee can than a soda can. Plastic may have the advantage there but as long as it's not abused this metal is going to hold its shape and shine much longer than the plastic, and its classic shape looks nicer to me than the boxy plastic ones. Medium size is perfect for us. Plenty of pre-drilled holes to accommodate almost any install design and on its Amazon web page they provide a nice detailed diagram with dimensions - you can start designing and building your base while it's shipping. Flag is snug, well attached, works great. We'll have to see how well the paint holds up but this looks like an easy one to refinish and paint over when the time comes. I'm expecting 20 years out of this mailbox. The door works great but you may have to adjust the little clasp tag that holds it shut. Mine arrived too tight, Be careful as you bend this up or down since the metal door it's attached to is quite thin and could bend and show on the front of the door) Also, the seams where base meets the walls had some separation there, a little too opened for me. Maybe that's so any water that ever got in there were drain out, but these gaps were a little big. I fixed it by simply clamping the edges together and then screwed them together with one 1/2" metal tap screw, one on each side. Big improvement. For its size, construction, ease of installing, appearance, and durability, there's not a better box out there for the price.

Seems good for the price. Not sure how long it will hold
My previous mailbox was a monster. Not sure what type of steel it was made of but it was heavy, and huge. I loved it. Then one day the hinges started rusting off and I had to find a new one. Not wanting to spend a lot of money for a new one I came across this mailbox. Initial impressions were good. It's pretty light though. Lighter than I thought it was going to be. The base/floor of the mailbox was also tilted and skewed to the right side. I was able to just hammer down on it with my hand to align it, but that probably says something about the overall construction. The door also did not close particularly well so I had to use some pliers and bend the little metal tab inside that keeps the door compressed (instructions also say to do this if needed). The flag seems to work well, no issues there. Installation was easy. This does not include mounting hardware so you're on your own for that. I just cut a piece of 3/4in plywood and mounted the box to the post. I mounted it through the side holes and I had to be careful that I didn't tighten it too much. The steel is thin so too much tightening and it will bow the metal very easily. Seems to be pretty weatherproof. It's been a few weeks since I installed it and it's been through quite a few rainstorms. No soggy mail. Overall, I like it. I just wish the metal was a bit stronger.

Fantastic purchase for the money
I looked at Mailboxes for quite some time before deciding on this one. My problem was the cheapest ones felt, well cheap. The ones that I liked in a standard size that felt like nice and where sturdy were extremely pricey. I was looking for the best mailbox for my money and this one delivered for me. I was not expecting super quality because of the price but at this price point, this mailbox was much nicer than the ones that I put my hands on in all of the stores I went to. I was very pleased with the color and quality for the money. We had no problems installing it and it looks great. I purchased some custom rub on lettering to go on it and it made it look cute and custom. This was exactly the color that I was searching for to place on a white maintenance free post. A border, mulch and some solar lights, and I have the best mailbox on the block! The only small issue that I do have with it is it does stick a bit when closing the box. It takes a bit more force than I would like to close it all the way. However, once closed and snapped in place, it is a super tight fit and it will not fall down. I can live with this.

Relieved and Impressed!
Ok, A mailbox is a mailbox, but I felt the need to write a quick review. The mailbox does appear much lighter in the photo, however I was pleasantly happy when I took it out of the box. It is a dark rich bronze color. Almost like the antique bronze on my kitchen faucet but not variegated. I hope that makes sense. I will post a photo here for your viewing pleasure... :) Also it arrived on time with NO dents and the mechanics of it, such as the door and the flag all work flawlessly and as they should. I know several reviews mentioned dents, etc....but this mailbox is very well made for the price. It was packaged as a box inside of a box, so it was protected for shipping. Overall, because of all of the other negative reviews, I breathed a sigh of relief when I took it out of the box and inspected it! Great product for a great price! COLOR : Definitely NOT Black as others have said. It is more of a coffee bean brown or dark bronze. The first photo is outside at noon in direct sunlight and is Dark Bronzy brown (very nice color, I might add). the second photo is inside the dark house and is still dark bronze in color, definitely NOT black even in the darkest of houses. If you like the idea of a rustic bronze color or antique bronze or even coffee bean brown mailbox...then this is for you. It is NOT black and it is not lighter green looking bronze like in the photo on the product page! But as MANY others said... I like the actual color SOOOOOO much better!

Basic but quite functional and built to last
This replaced a very similar mailbox that had damaged rivets. While very basic it appears to be well constructed and matches the style that is accepted in my HOA. It's now been in use for several months and is holding up well. I'm satisfied with my purchase.
