It was the right price and I was not keen on another solid surface gadget. I took a shot at this one and out of the box the device was exactly as it appears online. I wondered why I would need measurement marking on a cheese cutter. I thought it might be too light weight. I was unsure if the device was going to fit in my drawer and look nice on my counter when serving.All of my hesitations were misplaced. I love this gadget. Its very easy to clean and it cleans up very well. The wire is a heavier gauge than expected, which is...great. There is slightly more resistance when slicing, but very little flex in the wire. It cuts smoothly and straight. There is a small, thin, string of cheese produced when slicing semi soft cheese. Soft cheese does what soft cheese does. But remember this device cleans up very easily. Hard cheese...previously snapped my wire which precipitated this purchase...not sweat - sliced, like a champ. The measurements - at first I thought WTH? Then I realized they satisfy my obsession with symmetry. Crooked cuts and off angles in my wedges, dont get me started on random bites from late night munchies (I paid for the braces and recognized the bite marks. Your busted), now I have nice 90-degree angles and beautiful parallel sides.No holes to clean cheese out of. No groove to scrub out. No weak little sissy wire to stretch, break and replace.LOVE IT

Works fine, my only issue is that as you get to the end of a block of cheese, the cheese itself, if not a hard cheese, can bend a little as it is slices leaving one end thicker than the other. A slight inconvenience considering the price of the cutter. Other than that, no issues.

I only use this slicer for softer cheeses. It's not good for gruyere or manchego, bit for creamy havarti (which just squishes and sticks to a knife) it is amazing.I love the measuring marks and grid which make it possible to get even, consistent cuts. It also cleans up quickly and easily.I'm a lefty, and this is designed for right-handed users, not deal-breaker - I'm used to products favoring righties. It would be nice if it were just a little bigger, as some cheese blocks barely fit.I'll say it has improved my life, and I'm really happy with the product and quality.

I consider it a good value at the price I paid.The metal surface has a grid to help ensure that your slices are a consistent thickness. The surface also cleans up easily when you’re done (be sure to clean the wire and the underside of the cutter too).Speaking of the underside, that’s where I found the four extra cutting wires promised in the listing. I’ve seen several reviews saying that the wires were missing. At first I thought I too did not get the extra wires, but then checked the underside and found them. Good to know I have spares just in case.So far I have used the cutter to slice a very hard New York Cheddar, a firm Pepper Jack, and a fairly soft low-fat cheddar. The slicer performed very well on all three. I quickly cut enough cheese for a small charcuterie tray.Knowing what I know now, I would buy the product again.

I had this item for less than six months and used it sporadically as I buy most cheeses already in slices. The handle broke off after FIVE uses which it is ridiculous for an item costing $30 plus (including taxes). Needless to say, I would NOT recommend this kitchen item as it likely will end in your trash where it definitely belongs. The times I used was to slice cheeses like Monterrey Jack, Medium Cheddar, and the likes (soft cheeses!!).BTW. based in my experience with this item, I find it quite pathetic the pictures and video presenting this product as they do not accurate represent the quality of the product. Try to find a different product to spend your hard earned money.

The headline says it all. The handle is hollow and broke off after just a couple of months of use. I wpuldn't buy this one again. Clean up is easy, and it was easy to use, until the handle broke off.

It’s stainless steel so looks good & slices well. Helpful that it provides 3 new wires & instructions on replacement if one breaks.

It works!!! Cuts cleanly and completely. Either thinly or thickly, it works.The handle broke off cutting through soft cheese. Will keep and hold on to the arm.

I thought the blade should be more sturdy good for soft cheese

Works great with a block of cheese! No more using the knife and i can get thinner slices no problem!

I tried 2 different types of cheeses and the wire had a hard time cutting through.
