The ferrel is swagged so that even a dog leg can slip through. Cut the ferrel off, and then its okay. If a hooved animal that would possibly still hold otherwise figure on letting your catch go. Recommend getting a smaller snare for fox-coon-ferrel cats-opposum.Spring tension on the snare it comes with takes a bit of pressure, set up and towards the top helps but still I can't see a fox or sure footed animal tripping this. Hog, coyote or larger set up right would be fine. But would just use regular snare set up, not a leg hold

would not recomend it.
I purchased 2 of these traps and wanting to find something to catch wild hogs with, where I hunt there are lots of hogs. I recently set one of these traps but to get them to go off you got to push down hard on the plate to get it to go off, it would take something BIG that would put some weight on the plate to set it off.

Received this and it is not like the photo pictured, it is PLASTIC! I have set it out hope it works.

It's different to the one in the photo that I ordered, it's made of plastic which got shattered when the pig stood all over it.

It pretty much closes the snare exactly where it is attached
This trap is worthless. It pretty much closes the snare exactly where it is attached. These mechanisms are supposed to sling the snare up onto an animals leg.
