Understanding the Neolithic

Bought this for a friend's 21st birthday as she's studying archaeology in Cardiff. Apparently it's a bible so was gratefully received!!

this book was on my university reading list and has been very useful throughout all three years of my archaeology course. good qua lit and good price, and arrived much more quickly than i expected.

As with all archaeology texts, you can trust what is stated as an observation as fact - observations don't tend to change - but anything stated as theory/interpretation will always change as new information comes to light. Do not, therefore, come to this book hoping to actually understand the Neolithic, or to discover truth. It is not just fictional archaeologists who distrust "truths". This book is, however, a marvellous guide to what has been found, what was known at the time of publication, and what narratives best fit the facts available. Because archaeological books don't tend to repeat previous books, it is valuable to have to get a complete picture, of the subject and the discipline.
