Pretty but Impractical
I bought this phone because the picture looked like something out of Blade Runner; that blue light was the hook. The Redial and Mute buttons are nice to have. [I don't understand the Pause button.] Customer service with this vendor is patient and informed. It arrives quickly, well-packed, and looking like the picture, except:• The most important omitted spec is size. This is about 75% the size of a regular phone; think petite, tween hands. A trimline phone is 10" long; this is 7.5". So what, it still looks cool.• The other omitted spec is the length of the cord from phone to wall: it's 4-foot length will reach from wall connection to a table directly next to it. Fortunately, you can replace this dollhouse length with a longer cord.I succeeded with the $6.17 Radioshak 25' FT Feet BLACK 4-Conductor PHONE TELEPHONE EXTENSION CORD CABLE LINE WIRE WITH STANDARD RJ-11/RJ-14 PLUGS from Amazon. [Those 4-conductors are important in getting enough power down that length.]• It's made out of light-weight plastic that seems sturdy enough; but it's not heavy like a regular landline phone, let alone the old bakelight material. When you pick up the handset it's likely the little phone-to-handset cord lifts the phone with it, unless you use both hands, like taking tea at your grandma's.• Mine has a digital ringer rather than an authentic metal bell. The trilling ring sound can be switched on the bottom from Regular to Doom Horn, which might be a good practical joke.I ended up also buying a hefty, black replica of a 1970s AT&T phone with metal, fire-alarm bell for actual use.

The phone itself is very attractive. However if you try to use it as a wall phone the handset will not stay on it. The entire phone base & handset are extremely light. As a result since you cannot hang it on the wall but instead simply have it set on something every time you pick up the phone to answer it the entire base comes up too. Perhaps if I am willing to keep it in the exact same spot on the little cabinet it is setting on I could use some sort of sticky tape. If there was a way to add weight to it that too would work. My original intention was to use it as a wall phone and since I can't that is disappointing. The ringer is definitely loud.

nice, simple phone
Nice simple phone, the only complaint I have is that you sometimes have to wait a few seconds (either holding the button or with it in the base) before the phone actually disconnects. This is a bit annoying when I have to make a call after hanging up. Otherwise, I really like it -- buttons are great, the sound is great (on both ends). Nice, simple phone.

Phone is beautiful. One of the stones came off in shipping but that was taken care of by a dab of superglue. The cradle that the handset sits in is a little wobbley.

... phone does not dial out when connected by VoIP like your cable company router
Contrary to what they tell you here this phone does not dial out when connected by VoIP like your cable company router, magic jack or other Internet phone service without a pulse to tone dialer converter. So prepare to spend another $40 and have another box on your desk unless you have a standard analog phone company provided line.

works as described, very good quality. I wish the base would be a little heavier, as it moves at times when trying to dial.

China cheap
Really light and cheaply made. I just wanted a phone for a landline that we never use but I don't want to get rid of yet. What it doesn't show on the pictures it that the buttons are in Chinese and American which really bothers me.
