Basically a sword!
This knife is a MONSTROUS BEAST! When I first un-boxed this it was in a paper sleeve for preservation. It came with a leather sheath that has a belt loop and a spot for a leg lanyard to secure the weapon. The knife is heavy and for those who are not strong it will be a hazard for them to use. The blade comes pretty sharp but I sharpened it anyways because I like a shaving edge to it and it sharpens up nicely with a Lansky's stone. The serrations on the back edge of the blade may feel dull to the touch at first but trust me they are dangerously sharp. They work VERY WELL with cutting through rope, cardboard, wood etc. The actual blade of the knife looks great and is protected with the black coating and it makes it that much more stealthy. The edge of the blade chops, batons and slices like a champ and if you are decent with a knife you can get some really precise cuts even with this beast. The handle itself is great at eliminating sweat and oils from the surface to ensure a better grip but I still recommend fashioning a lanyard of some kind for added safety. The blade is full tang and the knife is of high quality being made here in USA. The pommel of this knife can hammer stakes in pretty well if needed but will show some wear. There is a lifetime guarantee on this knife so the money is well worth it for a knife you'll die before.P.S. If a bear snuck up to me in the middle of the night and caused trouble I have no doubt that this thing would sail through it's skull no problem! This thing is a killer for sure. Also, make sure to check your local laws about knives because this thing will get you into trouble if you are in the wrong place. It does count as a double edged blade aka (dagger) so citizens will be scared by seeing this thing and police will give you trouble guaranteed.

Big Sharp Knife
I'm no knife collector, but I think it is a good idea to have a decent quality one on hand. I originally purchased a Ka-Bar with the serrated edge on the blade. For that knife, it really interfered with the cutting ability. I liked the idea of having a saw-edge on the reverse side, but in practice I've not found it all that useful. This will likely be my last saw edge knife. Before I go any further though, I must mention that this knife is HUGE. I mean it is a big knife. It's half-way to a short sword. It's a little too big in fact. I found my smaller one to be more comfortable and practical for most uses. It's also incredibly sharp. Be careful, it's very easy to cut yourself. All in all it's a sturdy knife, well made. The only downside is I'm not a fan of the leather sheath. The strap that holds the knife in became damaged and flaked within the first week of extremely light use. I greatly prefer the hard sheaths provided with some of their other lines for both durability and ease of use. Sadly, last I checked they don't make a hard sheath for this knife.Personally I think their are better options out there (BK-9 comes to mind) but it's still a good knife. Rather than a lesser of two evils, deciding between this and a similar knife like the BK-9 is more of a greater of two goods decision. I don't regret my purchase and I doubt you will either.

Great addition to the lineup!
I just got mine. EXTREMELY sharp. Nicely sized-- large, but not too large. Great finish, balance, ergonomics, etc. Made in USA. In every way, a companion to the original USMC fighting knife from Ka-Bar.This knife chops wood well, but its rather thin blade gets stuck in the wood sometimes, which is annoying. If it were as thick as a Cold Steel Trailmaster, it would be a better chopper, but would also be heavier. As it stands, this knife handles in a manner very similar to the BK9 Becker Bowie knife, also made by Ka-Bar. The knife remained razor-sharp, even after being used as a hatchet. I don't care for the serrations on the back, but they aren't in the way as much as I'd feared. I had planned to dull them with a file or stone, but I may leave them alone. They aren't nearly as sharp as the front edge, and I don't forsee accidentally cutting myself with them as I'd feared I might. If the original Ka-Bar handle fits your hand, you'll find this one fits the same. The knife comes with a leather sheath that's made in Mexico, just like its little brothers. I now have all three sizes, and consider them some of the most useful knives I own, as well as some of the best bargains on the market.

Seriously awesome knife
I own a lot of knives, this is top 3 for sure and not even close to the most expensive I own. Looks great, love the grip on this and it's extremely light for how big it is with perfect balance. Shown next to buck 119 for scale, this thing is MASSIVE. Sheath could be better but it's really not bad, came ripping sharp from the manu. Love this knife

A+ KABAR !
Excellent knife. Razor sharp out of the box. Lighter in weight compared to most knives this size.I remember looking at my USMC KABAR and wishing it came with a longer, thicker blade like a Bowie. Then I found the Big Brother; had to buy it.Update 2017: As of 9/1/17 knife restrictions will be changed and it will be legal to carry this knife in Texas except for certain locations. I expect to see the KABAR and other large Bowie knives more often.Update 2020: I put the O rings on the handle for a better grip. Also bobbed the belt loop on the sheath for a higher ride. I also have a BK9, Ontario Bowie and a Case Bowie. Of the quality 9 inch Bowies I would be happy if I had to make do with any of them. The Ontario and BK9 are heavier and better choppers. The Big Brother is more of a tactical/fighter Bowie imo. Not as heavy, but that can be a good thing. It will chop if needed. The Big Brother would be my choice for belt carry. Pairs well with my USMC.Still likening my KABARS.
