Best fire starter ever created by nature.
This is 100% natural, smells absolutely amazing and lights fires so easily and quickly. I use 2 pieces each time and it aggressively lights seasoned oak split logs. I'll be purchasing this from now on because it's such a valuable product. I tried fire plugs and sawdust/wax fire starters and in my opinion your wasting your money. This is expensive but lasts so long and works so much better. The smell is just awesome and I absolutely love that it's 100% chemical free and natural. This is the remains of old dead pine trees that died decades ago and being used for excellent purpose in starting fires. I'll never buy a different fire starter for my wood stove again. Thank you plow and hearth. I 100% recommend this product and will continue buying 40lb boxes.Bought another box and for some reason this stuff burns way better and is a world easier to start. Burns so hot and lights instantly. It also came in a completely different box, idk what happened but I'm glad it did. The first box had a few handfuls that don't wanna start like it's just pine wood. This box is loaded with resin soaked chunks that when held to the light are translucent and shiny. This box is a way better product than the first. I hope I keep getting this product because I'm a fan for life. I mean that!

Very Good Product with Excellent Price
We order 2-3 boxes of this to get us through our long winters. It is a terrific buy and comparable in price to other fat wood we've bought. We switched brands a while ago to this one because it was a cost savings and just a terrific performing fat wood.

Overall, the best product.
First, I have done business with Plow and Hearth for years, several stove installations. Between our primary home, second home, and two shops we have 5 stoves and 3 fire places. Averaging 8 cords of wood. Aspen to Post Oak. I often re-split the wood as I buy it in racks. Easy for the lazy to hide big pieces in it. Three of the stoves, I made and have smaller than average openings to load wood. I have never thought the fat wood was too smoky. Since I re-split I collect the "splinters" and save by wood pile. Two pieces of fatwood with a handful of the other never fails. I use a propane torch to kick it off. My homemade stoves have burned for a week with the ash removal system I built in. Ash out, coals saved, wood added and good for 10-12 hours. One has a re-burn chamber and it is a wonder. I copied a Jotul design. It holds 32" inch wood. I also use a band saw to cut the fat wood down to 4" with zero problems. Building the fire is key to starting easy. All stoves are different. Make sure the air coming in blows on the kindling pile in many cases, it can be deflected over the top of pile, use your splinters to make a little platform. I have 7 kids and we make pack trips in the San Juan National Forest annually to fish. Every one of them could build a fire from flint and steel by fours years old. So, I have studied fire behavior long time. We do cheat a little by using cotton balls heavily coated in vaseline. A container the size of an old 35mm film canister will make about a dozen fires. Anyway, I got off track a little, recapping, Plow and Hearth is excellent for more than just this fat wood, many of the gripes I have seen on here strike me as pilot error rather than product. I do wish Amazon would use a more standardized way of pricing like a per ounce price and ditch the cubic/volume method. It is difficult to price compare. AND clearly mark the items that do not have free shipping. Last, remember the trick of cutting them in half. That is all, Cornbread.

What more do you need?
It is a great product! It is Jim Dandy and the company did all the work getting it ready for fast fire starting. Thank you.

Best fire starter
Three sticks start nearly all the kindling types I have. Makes heating with wood easier, doesn’t make as much of a mess as paper or wax starters. Burns hot and clean. Cardboard shipping box takes a beating in transit but still a better deal than local hardware store.

A must have
These start fire quickly and are easy to use. Relatively good size pieces so I only need one or 2. They really work because they burn hot enough to start a fire.
