Very nice but with minor, easily repairable, flaw.
Very high quality with a bonus. This book stand is beautiful and functional. And it includes page holding tabs that I didn't expect because they don't stand out in the picture. So I was surprised and delighted when I first used it. But there is a small glitch with the tabs. When you swivel the tab to position it on the page, the screw that mounts it and acts as a pivot turns with the tab. Not a major problem but in time the screw hole will become larger and the screw/pivot will no longer be usable and the tab will fall off. But there's a very easy fix. Remove the screw and cut the small end tip of a toothpick just slightly shorter than the screw. Insert this toothpick tip, blunt end first, into the screw hole then reinsert the screw but do NOT tighten the screw. It should be inserted until the head of the screw just barely contacts the swivel tab. The wood toothpick will fill the hole and prevent the screw from turning so the tab will swivel without turning the screw.

Useful
Does it hold up textbooks? Yes. Is it great looking? Not really. A bit clunky but who's buying this to look good anyways? I use it for anatomy and chemistry textbooks and haven't had any issues. Nor have the page holders come undone like I read in other reviews. Maybe they fixed the issue since then. Either way - it is functional but not the best looking thing out there.

Page Holders need redesign
The product as a whole is great for holding books. The only problem is that the screws that secure the page holders continually come loose. This I guess is caused by moving the holders back and forth when turning pages. Perhaps a look at the design of this function is in order. The appearance and design of the product otherwise is great.

better quality than even expected
Kind of a funny item to review, but this bookstand is great! I didn't think quality would matter too much for something like this, so I ordered one that wasn't too expensive, this was under $20 when I purchased it. I got it 2 days after ordering. I was surprised to find the wood was quality, it was smooth and neat looking. Stable quality. Seems to hold some of my heavier art books fine. (Though a really tall one might not work) It's too bad there was no online description on the item when I ordered it because I was surprised to find the stand even had a fold down lop across the bottom with two clamps to hold your pages open. I had wanted those features, but couldn't tell this item had them from the description online. It's also collapses flat so you can tuck it away in a drawer. I love it!

Ledge not sanded very well and is cracked from over-tightened screw
This just arrived. Overall, in my mother of an Eagle Scout opinion, it has the appearance and execution of a Boy Scout woodworking badge project that took all of 20 minutes to build because it was due the next day and Xbox was just more fun than breathing sawdust. The ledge (where the book rests) needs to be sanded, and whoever OVER tightened the wood screw on the left of the ledge tightened it so much there is a 1/2" horizontal crack to either side of the screw. I foresee having to replace the ledge eventually and will need to sand the rough patches before I put it in my book back (good thing I helped build all those Boy Scout projects). I'm busy enough with pursuing a doctorate that I did not really need a shop class project. It does hold my very large 572-page paperback textbook and I like the design of the adjustable stand but not the execution (it also needs sanding). It does look like it will be nicely portable once I sand off the splinters. I'll keep it just because I'm desperate and it's not broken (just rough and cracked some). But this is very disappointing.UPDATE: I am still disappointed by the craftsmanship. However, it works like a dream holding very large textbooks and is very portable.

Otherwise I love
Really handy, my only complaint was that the screw on the left gets lose too often and the bracket on that side doesn’t hold the page down. Going to try unscrewing it and putting emers glue in the hole where the screw goes to see if that fixes it. Otherwise I love it

Only the best
This order was actually for my 3rd and 4th bookstand of this style. They hold everything from paperbacks to oversize cookbooks securely. Also useful to secure paperwork when typing or doing data entry. I also set my tablet on it when watching a movie. Adjustable angle makes viewing easy. Folds flat to slip inside a briefcase if you plan to use it as a small presentation holder.Over the years, I've tried a dozen different styles of bookstands...wire ones that allow smaller books to slip through, or flimsier plastic stands that tip over. These work best! I keep one in work and home office, breakfast nook, and exercise/vanity area.

Waste of money; cheaply constructed.
This product was a waste of $20. The screws were loose out of the box, the hinges were thin and flimsy, and screwed in at crooked angles. As a result of the crooked hinges, the legs of the stand that rest on a surface wobbled and it was impossible to prevent the stand from moving. It also lacks rubber feet to prevent motion. The hinges on the front book holder squeaked and the screws in the hinges actually struck against each other because they were badly screwed in. The metal prongs on the front were cheap and flimsy.Dried wood glue was also visible oozing out of some of the joints. One of my friends actually asked me if I made the bookstand by hand at home.
