My original push button diverter (spring and all) shot out of my assembly and water was leaking out of the hole. The hardest part about the replacement was getting the screws out of the wall that had probably been there since before I was born. Once the covering was off, it was obvious that getting the 7/8 socket around the old diverter was going to be a chore as the wall to the shower was in the way. I made the executive decision here to chip away at the piece of the wall. Once that was done, the 7/8 socket went on like a glove, I didn't even need to use the wrench handle. I pulled the old diverter tab out with a pair of needle nose plyers. The tab was no longer attached to anything. I put one coating of plumber's tape onto the thread of the diverter and used the 7/8 socket to secure it in place. Once the assembly for the faucet was back in place I pushed the diverter button in and viola! Worked like a charm and no more leaks! It took me about an hour and a half, but its about a 20 minute job if your screws aren't as rusted as mine were and the wall is not in the way of the diverter. The assembly covered up where I had chipped away at the wall, so you can't even tell.

This replaced the original part nicely

This is a Delta OEM replacement diverter that fit an old shower valve in a early 1990s built house. I was glad to be able to find this diverter. The old one (original) was a bit difficult to remove, but this new one threaded right in, had a tight seal, and performed like the original. It's new again and functioning perfectly without a drip.

Getting harder to find these in Polished Brass. The PB trim screws are nearly impossible to find for delta monitor. Gonna buy another one to put back. Exactly what i needed.
