Encyclopedia of Watercolor Techniques 2E Step-By-Step Visual Directory, With an Inspirational Gallery of Finished Works, Second Edition (Encyclopedia of Art Techniques)

I have an earlier edition of this book and it came in very useful as I learned to paint with watercolors, and I still reference it for tips and techniques. Got this one for my niece who is just starting to paint in watercolor, and she likes it so far.

This book was recommended to me by my watercolor teacher. It is a how to book of different styles and techniques for watercolor painting, with a lot of excellent pictures. I just got it about a month ago, and have referred to it many times already.

Explains techniques of painting with water-based paints. Most examples given are broken down into steps allowing the reader to try the technique by copying the examples. I read the book from cover to cover twice and went back and tried several of the techniques. Felt I learned much and gained confidence with my watercolor paints. A great reference book.

Found it to be very education, lot's of creative samples...I had seen the original one and found I liked it much better...butthis one is most helpful.

Its OK, not enough detail on techniques.

This book is truly excellent as a compendium of specific techniques for producing a wide variety of visual effects in watercolor painting. Any beginning or intermediate watercolorist should find this book invaluable, as it would be for any painter with an experimental or ever-searching turn of mind.

I think the material in this book is good, but widely available in other resources. I think it is a good book to have in my library, but I probably won't refer to it often.

As a newcomer to painting, and an amateur, I am pleased with the many techniques that are presented here - excellent.
