I bought this as both a functional chess set and a display piece, and it exceeded every expectation. The “vintage book” design is gorgeous and adds such a classy, timeless feel to my shelf—it truly looks like a decorative hardcover until you open it to reveal the game inside. The pieces are well-crafted, sturdy, and feel great in hand. Everything fits neatly inside the case, making storage super easy and keeping the set protected. It’s the perfect combination of form and function: beautiful to look at and a joy to play.

This product is high quality and love the way it looks on my book shelf. The chess pieces are sturdy and like the felt touch underneath each piece. I will definitely buy more of this type of product great value for money. My family had endless fun playing chess over the holidays.

My grandkids (ages 4 and 6) learned how to play chess with this set. For a while it was their favorite game. It’s all packed nicely into the book box that doubles as decor on my shelves. The book is wrapped in a linen fabric. This product is expensive. I’m slowly collecting the whole set. The quality of this product is great and the way you can store it in plain site is nice. The whole set looks like a rainbow when put together. You can also separate and put many different places. This game is easy to grab and take anywhere.

I absolutely love this aesthetically, pleasing, vintage bookshelf, a chess game. Not only does it fit beautifully on my bookshelf, but I can also take it on trips because of his contact size. You don’t need to come price on the size of the pieces just because it is in a bookcase. The size of the board in the size of the pieces are normal and excellent quality.

Chess is now always available, even when house is clean :)

I really like the premise of these board games looking like books. They put a lot of effort on the facade. I was expecting the board itself to be a nicer quality but that’s okay. When I received the chess board in the mail it was missing on of the pawns but I reached out to customer service and they sent me a replacement piece. They were very responsive and helpful which I appreciated. I do plan on getting other board games in this style.

This is the only set I needed to buy. I wish I didn’t waste money on all the other sets. Whether this board will withstand heavy use is the uncertain part. Being a foldable board, it does have some creases. These creases may not allow for smooth piece sliding. Minor quibble that is worth noting. The set is also not quite compact enough for travel. Perfect size to keep at home. Very pleasant choice of colors by the maker. Unlike many sets where the pieces barely fit on the squares, these have just the right piece:square balance. The king and queen could be more distinctive too.

This game is very nice and heavy duty. You can pack it up and bring it with you anywhere. It’s listen at an amazing price to! & obviously it’s an amazing game to play. 10/10
