Q: First time making cables - I find it exceptionally difficult to get the cables through the plug. Are there any tricks to make it easier? Thanks

I had this issue too, after some practice it got easier. Giving yourself plenty of stripped cable to work with and making sure they are exceptionally straight before pushing them through the end helps but I still wound up with sore fingers after doing a few ends.

Q: Are these rj45 or 8p8c connectors? the ones i received say cat6 but are straight across instead of staggered.

RJ45. These have failed for me. Go to Lowe’s or Home Depot and spend a little more money and get quality connectors, unless you like to swear a lot.

Q: One review stated that these don't work with the "Klein Tools pass throu crimping tool." If that's true, which crimper do they work with?

RJ45 pass through crimpers all work the same, any brand should work. You don't even need a "pass through crimper". I use an off-brand that looks almost like the Klein version, never had an issue.
