I was wary of one post that said the wire was low grade, but I was pleasantly surprised to find the wire to be very good quality. The red plastic wire insulation is clear and you can see the stranded wire inside. It looks to be the proper gauge and is nice and flexible. The wire is exactly 12" in length as stated. The dust cap is just that a dust cap - it seems to stay in place ok. I have not had a chance to put "amps" through it yet.2013-04-15 UPDATEI bought 10 of these fuse holders based for several different projects.I still do think these are nice fuse holders but...I finally installed one of these fuse holders.I cut the wire, and I must say it must have been an optical illusion, the wire seemed to be 8 gauge through the red clear insulation but it is not 8 gauge wire inside. The actual wire is made up of lots of really fine wire that appears to be closer to 12 gauge total wire diameter, 10 if you're the glass half full type.I peeled back the insulation and inserted it into an 8 gauge wire connector. It had tons of room. So I peeled back even more insulation and doubled up the wire into the connector, and still had room.I have no idea if lots of fine threaded wire holds more capacity than a few thicker stranded wires of the same gauge and that is how the 60 amp rating is justified.I don't feel comfortable putting more than 30 anps maximum through this fuse holder. I am not an electrician, nor do I play one on TV and this post is just a lay mans opinion.I will certainly still use the fuse holders for my projects as the overall quality seems pretty good, but I will self impose the 30 amp limit. With all things your mileage may vary.

When my Chevrolet Colbalt would not start, my mechanic ...
When my Chevrolet Colbalt would not start, my mechanic towed it to his garage and found nothing wrong. When it would not start a month later, AAA inserted a new battery and it still would not start. They then towed it to the Chevy dealer where I bought the car. They installed a $500.00 starter. We drove it for a month and the same thing happened, it was dead. I looked in the trunk and found that the 50amp fuse and holder was rusted. I replaced the fuse and taped it to the wires that eventually came loose. I took my car to my Chevy dealer for service and asked them to fix the fuse. The mechanic said that in order to fix the problem, they would have to replace the entire harness that would be very expensive and suggested that I save money and buy one from a junk yard.Instead, I did an online research and found the PICO 0969PT fuse holder. I spliced the wires; connected them to the existing two wires coming from the battery, placed a 60-amp fuse in the holder, taped it and it works.Pico proved to be the product that saved me #$700-$800.

Good quality, Amazon had the best price
This is the best high-amperage fuse holder I could find for the price. The few I have seen that appeared to be better made, cost significantly more, and any that I have found at a lower price, were not as well made. Compared to the 'cheaper' versions, this one has more strands in the wire, a slightly sturdier overall 'feel', and the cap seems to fit tighter than most, leading me to think it will be more weatherproof. There ARE better ones out there, the best are the ones rated for salt water marine use, but for most any normal use, these are more than good enough, and Amazon had the best price I could find.Note that this takes the big MAXI-sized blade fuses, so don't confuse it with the standard-sized fuze holder. However, with a 60 amp rating, it will handle quite a load.

i like it - its much larger than i expected also ...
i like it - its much larger than i expected also - not sure if thats a good thing for me - i see when i get around to using it - with the 60 A fuseits very hard to get the fuse all the way in and to remove it - just as hard - that can be a good thing - once its in there - dont expect to have to remove it - so not a big deal - feels well made - just larger than i expected -

Impressively flexable, but might not be quite 8AWG.
I've got several of these, used to run 8AWG to amateur radio equipment, extra DC sockets, and a power inverter in my car. The wire is super-flexable and the red insulation is semi-see thru, it seems like it's quite solidly built and will probably resist a good bit of splashing. My only question is I'm not sure about the 8AWG. Either the other 8AWG wire I got is bigger than it should be or this is thinner than it should be. In any event, it does seem to fit well enough that 8AWG crimp connectors don't pull off and doesn't seem to have any significant power drop at 300ish watts.

Holds An Actual Maxi Fuse
Good product, I had to clean a little plastic out of the inside so the fuse would go in. This holds an actual Maxi fuse. After installing the fuse I noticed that the top doesn't really snap down all that well and can come open easily.

Wire too short
The fuse holder seems to be good quality .But the listing says it has a 12 inch wire .the one I received only has a 7 in inch wire too short for me.

Maxi fuse holder
Needed for a future amp install and was unable to source locally. Wire gauge and overall quality appear to be spot on.
