Fun
I enjoyed this book. I loved Letty and her strong and independent nature. Joel was a bit condescending to her at first but he became very sweet by the end of the book. The mystery aspect was not quite as thrilling but it was still fun.

Krentz classic hits all the right high points
No terrorist attacks, no kinky sex, no convoluted and barely comprehensive plot lines ... love it! Krentz has put together a story about relationships, personal and professional. This may be an oldie but it is a really good page turner. Heroine is a librarian who inherits her great uncle's sporting goods company, dumps a jerk fiance and her job to move cross country, take over the inheritance and start a new life. She's also looking to add passion to her life. The hero is peeved because the great uncle's promises to sell the company to the hero are complicated by his death and it is willed to the niece. Joel built the company while great uncle's time was spent fishing. To add to the problem, our hero planned for vengeance against an old enemy when he took over. His plans were upended when she arrived and proved to be smarter and cuter than he expected. Romance ensues of course and problems are attacked by novel methods and by a great cast of memorable characters.

If you are a JAK fan a must have
I have all of JAk's books and have been buying the Kindle editions as I can afford them. This is one of her top 10. It has intrigue, family issues to be resolved,a super sexy hero, dastardly villan and not so wicked stepmother. A fast read though a full length novel you are almost sorry when it ends. So make some ME time and a pot of tea, put on your snugglies and buy this book.Really less than 5 bucks? I paid more years ago for a PB and then found a used HB for even more and was happy to pay the price.

Okay, but dated
Price vs content - content loses. Another reprint. I wish they would make it clear when a story is a reissue. This is a standard romantic template of the past: strongly dominant hero with a weak female protagonist who helps him find his conscience and become a better person for it. Light and fluffy with little substance.

The mode when written was overbearing he-man dominance
The writing is good, but this book shows its age in its hero character. Macho male who thinks he has to be all he-mannish and to keep the little lady uninformed, et cetera. Not at all about dominance in the physical/sexual arena, but, more than thirty years ago when this book was written, the male lead was written to be just the sort of man whom literary augents and publishing houses believed buyers of romance novels wanted and expected. Thus, this book now isn't of the top quality of this author's more recent work. But if you can choose to be amused instead of affronted, it can be a fun read anyway.🤳📖

One of her good ones, the kind we all re-read. Her prototype perky heroine. Her prototype put upon by the perky heroine alpha male. Humor from both hero and heroine. Great humorous romantic scene where he invites her to control him through sex. She's a former librarian who's read a lot of articles. He invites her to try out her research on him. JAK is so good at building those kinds of scenes and those kinds of dialogue. It's why we keep buying her stuff.

Great Fun with a little mystery
Once again Krentz has put together all the right characters to bring to life the plot. This wax is more fun than others of her best. Enjoy

I love everything she writes and read everything she wrote from ...
I love everything she writes and read everything she wrote from when she wrote as Stephanie James, Jayne Castle, Amanda Quick as well as Jayne Ann Krentz. I read them a lot more than once too. Excellent story lines, Great Characters. She is my ALL TIME FAVOURITE AUTHOR. I am gradually getting all her books one books to save some space on my bookshelves, they are promised to my local Charity shop when I have them ALL on ebooks.

Another lovely read
Another great book from one of my favourite authors - loved both Joel and Letty. What a great plot with some very interesting side characters - I especially loved the way Joel first dealt with Letty's ex over the phone - a real laugh out loud scene! Also loved how she stood her ground in the business but still acknowledged his place in it, and how they had to learn to work together - some very funny scenes there, especially the ones between her young male secretary and Joel. Was also a nice change having a 'perfect' stepmother who turned out to be a good person with a few fears of her own! The romantic/sex part of the story is what holds it all together in such a funny but also solid way - you will definitely enjoy reading this book!

Vintage Krentz
On of her very best stories. I loved the conflict between the heroine and the hero--and some especially memorable lines about the former boyfriend caught with his member in the mouth of his graduate student. Still laughing over that description. All inn all a rousing good romp with two people who come to the perfect partnership after a slow start.

Adorable characters and subtle humor
This book by Jayne Ann Krentz features her usual adorable female and male characters along with subtle humor blended with mystery and suspense. The plot starts off with a librarian, Letty Thornquist, living in Indiana inheriting a Seattle company, Thornquist Gear, from her uncle Charlie. The CEO of the company, Joel Blackstone, has been responsible for building the company up from a single shop to a large retailer with many product lines over just a 13-year period. His expectations of the new owner and president immediately clash with those of Letty when she arrives in Seattle. Many laughable situations occur as adjustments are forced to occur in the life styles of Letty and Joel. The technology referred to in the text represents a story in the mid-1970s-typewriters, computer print-outs from main frames, no personal computers and no cell phones.

Its okay
I personally didn't like the whole concept of the book. The hero builds up the heroines uncles business from practically nothing to a huge successful business. He was promised by the uncle that he would be allowed to purchase the company but unfortunately the uncle dies and his neice inherits the business. I found the lack of concience and morals on the part of the heroine to be distasteful. While acknowledging the fact that the hero was responsible for the success of the company she feels no guilt in inheriting the business and seems to enjoy reminding him on numerous occassions that she is the boss. I found her to be completly irritating and so it spoilt the romance for me. Was expecting the normal amusing and warm romance that I expect from this author and was very disappointed.
