Affordable and work great
Been using two of these to power a pair of Hubitat Elevation C7 home automation devices for the past year or so with zero issues. It's made placement of those Hubitats SO much easier because I was able to put them in more central locations without needing 120V power at those spots. Both are plugged into a UniFi PoE switch (one a 48-port and another a 16-port) and it was truly plug-and-play.For what it's worth, I've seen a couple complaints from folks who claim these don't work and were defective. I strongly suspect they simply didn't know what they were doing and either the devices they were trying to power and/or the switches from which they were trying to provide power weren't 802.3af compliant and required 24V or 48V passive connections. I can see possibly getting a bad splitter once in a while (because, let's be honest, they're all mass-produced overseas and are cheap for a reason), but two defective units in one package when so many other people have great success with these? Not likely.I came back to this page to buy more for some different equipment, and if it wasn't for reading those bad reviews, I probably wouldn't have left this one to provide some balance and refute those other claims. Just couldn't let it go without saying something.

Not sure these are actually "802.3af-Compliant" - doesn't work with a small load
From what I've seen, these work fine with *passive* PoE injectors in the 37-56V range. However, when supplied with power by an *active* 802.3af PoE injector, they get less reliable. It seems they don't actually negotiate with the PoE source to guarantee the source produces power. For instance, plugging this adapter into an 802.3af source and plugging the micro-USB end of the adapter into a small load, for instance something pulling only 40-50mA, it doesn't work. The various 802.3af sources I tried (tp-link, phihong, trendnet) just continuously cut power to the adapter. To fix this, I had to bridge the 12v pins in the adapter with a 300 or so ohm resistor to convince the PoE sources to actually supply power. Only then did the micro USB work.I think they cut corners with this, and if you're using it for anything serious, probably look elsewhere.. if you're just using it for a Raspberry Pi, or something similar with 200-500mA draw, you may be okay.

RJ45 Plug won't click...
My ZigBee gateway keeps disappearing because the RJ45 plug won't click into place and gradually works itself out enough to break contact (but, not enough to fail a quick visual check in trying to figure out why ZigBee device isn't connected, smart life app doesn't say anything like disconnected or offline...just ignores me.)

Works great!
I used one of these on my outdoor hubitat smart hub installation. Poe must be expensive to implement, because I have so many of these expensive small low power ethernet devices, and not a single one has poe. Smartthings, Hue Bridge, Hubitat, et cetera... no poe.Anyway, this adds poe to one smart bridge I have in the back yard in a weatherproof box, well out of wireless range of my indoor hub. I just swapped the end off the other one for my Hue bridge in the same box. 100 feet of conduit and Cat6 with a poe++ powered poe + switch and a poe++ injector inside the house, I have a perfect smart hub setup in my garden.Excellent product, does what it says. Great for a clean looking install (clean up all those usb bricks!), or to add power where you don't have access to an outlet.
