Should have really been a three star
The reason I am giving the book five stars is the fact there should be more books like this where the games of certain players are dissected and their decisions are grouped in chapters based on the common underlying theme. This is a brilliant way to peek into the players mind and try to replicate their thinking process over the board. This is a book that delivers and is a good way of familiarising yourself with hundreds of Magnus`s decisions which you can try to memorise as snapshots(which the way the book is organised makes almost impossible to do). The reason I should have given this book three stars is the completely nonsensical way in which the book is organised which has made this way of learning extremely difficult. The positions given as tests in the individual chapters have their solutions on pages at the back which are not consecutive so you have to flick through the pages back and forth. The reason for this is that many of the different motifs given as tests in different chapters can be seen in a single game and the author has decided to give the full games in their entirety for some reason as if having the whole game is more important than finding the answers quickly. What this means is that for example the solutions to the positions in chapter one can be seen on any random page in the solutions to which the author provides an index e.g 28.3 - meaning game 28 position three at the same time the solution to the very next position can be in game 50.4. All of this is is incredibly frustrating and unnecesarilly time consuming and has made it impossible to use the book as quick tool to use if you want to go back to looking at the positions which you normally would. I do hope there is a better edition of this book in the future where the solutions are given in the order the positions occur.
